Rough kids furniture - Piet Hein Eek

Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek is already best known for his furniture. He graduated in 1990 from the Design Academy in Eindhoven, and his graduation project, a cupboard of reclaimed scrap wood, earned him international recognition. In that time, it was an amaizing concept, not to have a  ‘perfect’ piece of furniture, but create something opposite - imperfectly beautifull . Every single piece of furniture is a one-of-a-kind creation . Piet Hein Eek recently moved his production, office, shop and showrooms into former Philips factory buildings. I  just love this space, and the work they are doing. I want to shere some photos with you …

Children book Illustration – Fideli Sundqvist and Malin Koort

I came across this two interesting artists, illustrations/graphic designers, from Sweden.  Fideli Sundqvist just finished her bachelor project. It is a children book with illustrations made of folding paper. The story is called "Tilly and Gul, an adventure at sea!". Her roommate is Malin Koort, another really great artist. What a inspiring combination, have a look at their work!

Child's diary

Do you write a child's diary, or I am old fashion? Maybe it’s important to do it just for the first year, because its so special? I am writing my first son's diary, already for 5 years. I don’t know when I should stop it? I just like to keep some nice memories, which disappear so fast. When my second son was born, I start with the second one, of course. The first Diary has just black cover, and a4 format.  The second is read, and got different shape, to make it special for the little brother…here some photos, from both of them.

Have a nice weekend!

Made in Poland – Karolina Gościniak – muamuadesign

Not for the first time I see talented designers, when they got children, they start to make beautiful objects for the small ones. Not that suprising, isn’t it? Having a child sometimes opens another door in your life. Karolina (Kaja) Gościniak, a graphic designer, from Poland, is making a beautiful and colourful birds (ptaszydla ;-), for her daughter Helenka. I really like the bright colours and fresh design with the graphic touch. here Kaja site : muamuadesign.pl

“Ideas are seeds.
We sow them, give them water, take care of.
They grow to projects, we watch them, hug them.
Finally we cut and pick them.
And here we give them to You. “   muamuadesign

Movie – Alamar

For the ones living in Rotterdam, or close by, this week starts an open-air cinema, in the Museumpark. Here link: pleinbioscooprotterdam
On 28.08 this Sunday, 21.30 an amazing Mexican film Alamar (To The Sea) will be screened. I have seen it already on the IFFR where it won an Audience Award for Best Film. An extraordinarily beautiful film, which you will never forget! I had chance to see the author Pedro González-Rubio and listen his history about the film. It is an amazing story taking pleace at the sea. A young boy, Natan, goes on a journey with his father and grandfather. His father is a humble fisherman in Mexico, where he lives in the house on the water. They are not actors, they where filmed by a friend, who went with them too see how they spend their days surrounden by water… I don’t want to tell you the full story…just some photos. I wish my son could see it too…
don’t miss it.
