Planes, trains & automobiles

Toddler room at Inside Out magazine - Australia
R toddler bed from Rafa-kids in Inside Out magazine - Australia

We are not leaving the toddlers’ playground from our last post : Let's Play with Monsters but we just keep playing. The theme chosen to create this room was all that moves : planes, trains and automobiles. My boys’ would love it!  Rafa-kids R toddler bed with wheels, fits perfectly here. How is it possible, that I never thought about it before!
This beautiful styling was created by Jessica Hanson and photographed by Sam McAdam-Cooper,

I don’t even know where to start to say what I like the most about this set. The Aeroplane shelf is just so cool. Personalised wooden letters with the name of your child, and little cloud lamp, and wooden planes flying around….. little details, making this minimal and modern space so special.  Of course this BLUE! what a beautiful, colour to choose for a child’s room. It makes it so dreamy and relaxed.

We were so excited to see this amazing kids’ workspace created by Jacinda Malloy with Rafa-kids’ K desk! Jacinda is an Australian interior designer, sharing her work and inspiration on her website Hidesleep.  This unique room belongs to Benij, who lives with his parents and two twin brothers in Malvern, Victoria. Can you guess what is his favourite color ? of course …Blue. The pin board next to Rafa-kids’ desk gives the space such a fresh splash of colour.  The rug with a strong pattern complets this cosy and modern space. Pin board is custom made by Alandem.  There is more custom made elements in Benij’s room. The hand painted compass on the wall is hand painted by artist Jane Reiseger. Jecinda’s aim was to create a boy’s room with meaningful elements for him. Benij is interested in the world, travel and learning. All the little elements make this space unique and reflect his personality.
You can read and see all the story of this lovely  room ( and much much more )  in Mintymagazine :

How many children’s stores you know which make each season their own e-magazine?
Well, not that many in my option. Cécile Roederer, owner of the Smallable says “ The magazine is precisely their DNA, the essence of their universe. “ I think it’s the most interesting way to show the style of the store and to inspire your customers.   “I love the idea of a concept store.  When you say concept store, you are saying not just a shop but the discovery and creation of an entire lifestyle” .

Smallable, is an online kids’ department store for 0-16 years old, and offers very well selected kids’ designer clothes, and also kids’ furniture and interior design accessories for bedrooms, nurseries and teenagers! This inspiring pictures are made by Pierre Rochand and styling is made by Léonie Escolivet for the new summer season magazine.

Last week I received the very first issue of LILLENORD, a brand new and beautiful magazine representing urban nordic family lifestyle.
Since I am always on look out for kids' interiors, I was happy to see something different than black&white Scandinavian style! The first print issue is full of inspiring Kids' fashion, Home decoration, DIY, recipes and lots more.
The "Room Service" editorial pages, photographed by Monica Bach are my favorite, with a minimal touch and products from Lucky Boy Sunday and Ferm Living. Two scandinavian brands Lille Nord love and support, the other on their list are:  Hay, Normann Copenhagen, We Do Wood, Marimekko, Fine Little Day, Polkka Jam, Flexa, Garbo&Friends. In this issue I stopped by interesting interview with Lisa Stroander, Johanna Magoria, which are pinpointed by Lille Nord as the future of Scandinavian design.

Thank you Lillenord for the press materials and such a inspiring magazine!

101woonideeen voor kinderen

The latest issue of the Dutch magazine 101woonideeen
is bringing a big amount of color inspiration for children's rooms.

My 7 years old son told me very recently that white, gray and black are the saddest colors on the planet! He doesn't really understand why our house is so monochromatic and why I paint all walls so dark gray. It was very confronting I have to confess. I do love colors, but not much in the interiors. I was trying to explain to my boy, that the white and gray are a good base to play with colors in his room…and when he got few new colorful pillows he was getting smile on his face. He announced : "colors make me happy" !

When I saw these colorful photos in 101woonideeen , I thought, yes some people do it so bravely and they go for such a strong yellow and neons , are you? I spot stars all over : on the wallpaper, bedding and floor….

Lille Nord magazine

I have to be honest and say there is not many children orientated e-magazines that I like. Most of them focus on fashion and are not much interested to present some modern ideas to decorate children's room.
The scandinavian Lille Nord magazine is a big exception. It is very inspiring, full with great DIY projects and interesting children's rooms. The bold and minimalist Danish style is so present and speaks to me. I really like the DIY paper masks - you can see all the tutorial inside the magazine here : Lille Nord.

Chloés room is so cosy but with minimalist scandinavian touch ( hay boxes, bobochoses rug on the wall, Japanese balloons) . The credits for this room goes to mimiscircus , so I guess its a room of the daughter of the owner of this very nice children shop. Pity there is no single word about it! I'm a fan of the beautiful we do wood desk, finding its place in the room. Please have a look at all magazine :  Lille Nord
