Gender Neutral Children's rooms trend

Could you imagine the room of your child in a calm and neutral atmosphere, or you find it to much and a bit boring? The gender neutral children rooms are at the moment very popular, and I like it a lot. The other day, my six years old son was drawing something, and when I asked why he doesn’t use the pink color- he looked at me with this strange look, and said -  “ mom - pink is for girls! “  I was angry, as this was definitely told to him by someone at school, and I’m far from accepting it. 

Anyway, today we are escaping from colours in children’s rooms, and any generalisations what is for boys, and what for girls. Let’s enjoy these beautiful natural textures of wood, linen, cotton. I found this editorial on Zara Home and was positively surprised. Contemporary, with modern elements, kept humble and fresh. I wish to see such an inspiring children rooms more often! 

Beauty of linen - Yoliandotis

Have you already planned your vacations for this year ? In this rainy March Sunday, I desperately wish for a warm breeze and a little beach house in the sunny part of the world. Instead I hide myself under fresh , white linen bedding in my bed …hmmm, it feels so good.  Then I scroll and watch beautiful Instagram account of Yoliandotis . It makes me feel I’m almost there, at Byron Bay. Yoliandotis offers plant dyed and ethically made garments and interior deco essentials. I like so much the atmosphere of her website and all what she does. Magical world that we can be a part off, for a little moment….

Rafa-kids & Fabelab

There were boxes of beautiful stuff arriving from Copenhagen to our studio last week. We teamed up with Danish brand Fabelab and received their gorgeous textiles, cuddly toys and tipi tent. We love to collaborate with other creative brands, so setting up this toddler room was for us such a treat . Beautiful shades of grey, soft pink and reach textures of felt baskets from our collection are the main theme of this latest Rafa-kids inspirational photoshoot. We would not be ourself without adding a splash of yellow into this Scandinavian calmness! 

We selected All White furniture of Rafa-kids, to give a great base to play around with these Scandinavian accessories. You know how much I like baskets! Remember this blog post ? Well, I think they are such a great way to store kids’s toys. The tipi tent gives such a dreamy atmosphere to this space. I think we will keep this set in our studio for some longer time....

Rugs for children's room - Lorena Canals

I’m not a fan of rugs, but when it comes to a children’s rooms - they are simply a ‘must have’. Children love to play on the floor and as parents, we would like to keep their feet and knees soft and cosy, right ? If I could choose, I will always go for good quality, plain colour rug, and that’s all, but as we know,  the plain rugs, are the ones which needs the most care to keep them fresh and clean. It is definitely more practical to get a rug for children’s room with a bit of a pattern on it. 

I discovered very recently the Lorena Canals rugs, and really like them. Not only the simple design, but also the great idea, that you can just drop them into your washing machine, how great is that ? Lorena Canals , create this nice boho vibe around their rugs, with nice baskets and blankets with pom-pons - so fun and playful for kids rooms. I think they can be spread around the house too, for the cosy and relaxed vibe. 

Danish Design - Luckyboysunday

Remember my post about “ Marsala colour trend in children’s rooms “ ? 

Well, it’s looking like we will see more of it in 2017.  I just got in my post-box news from Danish brand Luckyboysunday and ohhh yes! Their new Cuddles and pillows are touched by a splash of Marsala. Do you like it? I think the combination with pink is my favourite, it looks so sophisticated and modern. I adore work of LuckyBoysSunday for ages.  Their products have this weird look, a bit of edgy but fun. You just can’t pass by, becouse it is good to be different , right ? 

Personal treasures - Couleur Locale store

Do you remember my blog post about Bohemian vibe in children’s rooms?  One of the characteristic elements of this style, is to decorate it with unique, one of a kind, objects. Unfortunately not all of us can travel to find them in different parts of the globe and take them back home…but there are people which would love to do it for us!  Couleur Locale store concept is based on this nomad need of traveling and searching products which are one of a kind pieces. Don’t you like that? Each stool, lamp or even little bowl and basket tells a story…..and this can be found in Marocco, Kenia, Senegal …you can read more about it here.

I’m always so exited to discover new collaborations between small brands. Most of the time it means - we will get a beautiful limited editions products that you will not find anywhere…. So much beauty and creativity!  

This time, talented graphics designer Emma from PAX & HART , who creates very unique posters often seen in children’s room collaborated with gorgeous crochet toys brand MIANN & CO. Maybe you’ve already known the Winnie and Sailor posters?  Two characters which lived on Emma posters get into 3D crochet toys…It is such a wonderful idea, don’t you think? Beautiful colours of the dolls, the flower on the head and all this little details, which make it such a unique little products - ready to be cherished and loved. They are a limited edition and available through MIANN & CO.
