Kids space at vtwdbeurs 2016

Last Friday we went to look for inspiration at the biggest Design and Interior Fair in The Netherlands called - VT wonen&design Beurs taking place in Amsterdam. We were so exited to discover, that the Dutch magazine vtwonen created space for kids in their pavilion. It was not just one little room…it was large and impressive open space.  The main element was a built platform where child can sleep and play and on the other side there was a separate area for working. My favourite element was definitely the built platform with the drawers underneath for all the toys and also a large wardrobe. Open shelves gave chance to expose all little treasures. Just perfect. I really liked the colours combo kept in this era. Grey was contrasted and refreshed with orange, which gave cosy and warm feeling. The working area was dark and calm, with a galaxy theme. Kids’ house was filled with plenty of vintage finds, industrial furniture like chairs or shelves, which made this space look so personal. Such a wonderful atmosphere….
and we spotted Rafa-kids XO game and X stool in black in there!
Unfortunately on the entire fair it was not much more inspiration for children except this pavilion….I will show you more from the fair shortly.
Happy weekend my dear readers.

Weekend! Last week we decided that our Friday’s are going to be “ Out and About ” . Each Friday we will go and discover some new places and recharge our  batteries and get inspired. Do you like the idea ?  Today I would like to show you our first outing.  We went to The Hague, since there is a 3 day event called “ Festival Design Kwartier” 27-29 May. Tomorrow you still have chance to see it if you are around. Open doors to designer’s studios, houses , galleries and shops all filled with design.
On our ‘must see’ list was Tas-ka store. Unique design concept store hosting also products for MINI - people.

Tas-ka is run by Jantien Baas and Hester Worst.  In the store you will find, their own design prints all over the place. From designed and manufactured in The Netherlands textiles, their bedding, bags, cushions, tea towers. Their print comes on lamps and plenty of beautiful paper goods too. Jantien and Hester also carry a well curated collection of goods from other brands. Exclusively for “ Festival Design Kwartier” we could see this cute mustard yellow exposition wall with accessories for little ones. There is also a bookstore !  As you could see the store has a minimal look with a graphic touch. Atmosphere is built with care for every little element and product. Well done, Tas-ka!

Remember, that some time ago I asked you what you would like to see more on my blog ? here in this post. Some of you suggested, that it would be interesting to know what inspires me. Well, one of the answers will be - other creative people. Working together duo Scheltens-Abbenes will be one of the top of my list. I just came across their house at the new ELLE Decoration NL and need to show it to you. It is 400m2 space, where this creative Dutch duo work and run a family life with their 2 children. Living and working with your partner, is exactly our life too, so I feel even more inspired.  Maurice is a photographer and Liesbeth is an artists.

“ … Rather than present an object in its original state, they arrange and meticulously photograph their subjects, which eventually take on the form of a new object all together. The innovative couple can be seen as the forerunners of the emerging still life trend and its presence in the fashion realm…”

Their talent is highly appreciated by famous fashion houses, such as Valentino, Hermes, COS, Chanel, Louis Vuitton…..and many more! also magazines, such as Modern Design Review, Fantastic Man, The Gentlewoman or New York Times Magazine are anxious to collaborate with them. If you would like to know more about them, just step by Coffeeklatch for an interesting interview. What I like about their house, is the relaxed and cosy atmosphere, which is a bit opposite of the perfect and conceptual work they make for their clients. I wish one day, we could own such a space, when we could hold under one roof our creative and family life in such a great way.

vtwonen is not just a deco magazine, it’s already a strong brand on the Dutch market with their own collection dedicated to living. I like  their style a lot which is conceptual and always one-step-ahead of current trends. I think their concepts are very accessible for people  and easy to try and experiment with at home.
Today I would like to show you vtwonen new stickers collection. It includes : save the date  -  abs stars - happy quotes stickers. As you see on the beautiful pictures, you can in a very simple and easy way, personalise your space at home. …are you ready to play?

I wish you a wonderful weekend ahead!

dream kitchen

rebuilt a city farm in Workum, The Netherlands
open kitchen in rebuilt farm in Workum, The Netherlands - photo for vtwonen

I dream of an open kitchen with a big table and a lot of space around it….
exactly like the one you see on the pictures. This amazing space belongs to Maamke en Rob, who rebuilt a city farm in Workum, The Netherlands. Their every day life concentrate around this unique space and they just like so much to hang out with friends and family around it. The little details, which make this kitchen/dining room so durable :  concrete floor, black industrial window frames, the mix of different chairs, even the flowers on the table put so carelessly.... Cosy, warm and so natural.
I just wish to be there for a moment, to grab this coffee.  I blame the spring air , you know….

Happy and relax weekend to all of you!

Let’s start our Monday with inspiration for a children’s rooms.
I choose to show you, some rooms in a vtwonen style, and if you are not familiar with this name, here is a small introduction.  Vtwonen is a Dutch interior magazine which comes out every month and is run by Carlein Kieboom. Instead of mainly following the trends of their sector, the mag has their own, very strong style, which you will always recognise, going through the pages. Part of their team, are two of my very favourite stylists : Marianne Luning and Cleo Schuerman

Why I like so much the vtwonen’s style and what’s so unique about it ? In few words, I will say creativity to mix old and new elements, vintage pieces with modern design, courage in use of different textures and colours. DIY ideas are very important part of vtwonen’s world. You will see a lot of natural materials, raw, not polish, sober furniture and accessories. Children’s rooms are part of this concept, and that is something I really appreciate.  Vtwonen even have their own junior’s furniture collection.

blue jeans

Rafa-kids a teen bed

Blue and orange are one of my favourite colour combination. Last year we did a photo session with our Rafa-kids A teen bed in this colours which you see above. I still like it so much!  My older son loves orange colour too, but it was not that easy to make a room with it. Here you can see my post about it : boys-room   . You will probably say, oh yes, orange is a favourite Dutch colour, but acutely you see it mostly only during the national holidays, not really that much in the home deco. I personally think that orange in combination with black colours gets a bit to heavy, and brings you into halloween mood, but with touch of blue tones, jeans, and some textures of grey, it’s getting lighter and elegant. Orange with the industrial, raw accessories looks also very fresh.

All photo’s I’m showing , are from KEK MAMA / WONEN Dutch magazine,
