Trip to Copenhagen and Høst

I’m just back from a little trip to Copenhagen where Rafa-kids furniture were presented at CIFFkids fair on the Fabelab stand. Any excuse is good to visit this beautiful city. It was such a fresh and cold weather and I managed to look around the center and step by some stores and coffee bars. One of my ‘must see’ visits this time was famous Høst Restaurant designed by Norm Architects

It is already 4 years old, and won many international design awards…but well, I wanted to see it myself. What I like the most is the combination of the imperfect materials like recycled wood, aged concrete, steel, next to some warm wool of the blankets, greenery and delicate modern light. The old wooden ceiling and the not perfect walls, give such a relaxed and cosy atmosphere. The neighbourhood is also nice with a big park, food markets and plenty of space to breath. Probably even more beautiful during warm days, when you can sit outside. I will be back!

Danish Design - Luckyboysunday

LuckyBoysSunday
LuckyBoysSunday

Remember my post about “ Marsala colour trend in children’s rooms “ ?
Well, it’s looking like we will see more of it in 2017.  I just got in my post-box news from Danish brand Luckyboysunday and ohhh yes! Their new Cuddles and pillows are touched by a splash of Marsala. Do you like it? I think the combination with pink is my favourite, it looks so sophisticated and modern. I adore work of LuckyBoysSunday for ages.  Their products have this weird look, a bit of edgy but fun. You just can’t pass by, becouse it is good to be different , right ?

Danish minimalism

table and chairs set from oliverfurniture from Denmark
leander linea modern childrens babies furniture

It is not a secret that the Danish has a deep tradition in designing amazing furniture pieces.
They cary some of the best classic design furniture for kids too. You can discover the Juno bed here , which is one of the best furniture for the little ones since a long time.  It never goes out of style.

I’m showing you today two Danish companies carrying kids’ furniture  : Leander and Oliverfurniture. I think they are taking a new wave in development. I talked about Oliverfurniture in 2013 here, and this brand was looking to me very tradition then, so it is nice to see that they are bringing the company into the new modern stage.
Leander refreshes its brand with  new furniture line called Linea. The new collection includes essentials for a baby: cradle, changing table and a dresser.  I personally really like the transformed version of the the cot for toddler into a sofa. All the pictures are very minimal and modern, which is very refreshing. What do you think about all this colour possibilities to use in children’s rooms? They are absolutely beautiful and I would like to try some of them in our Rafa-kids stylings.

It’s nice to see that the Danish design company Bloomingville

brought to the market a collection for younger users - called MINI Bloomingville. The company was born from Betina Stampe’s dream and passion in 2000.   Today the company has grown into an international cooperation employing more than 70 people and 65 sales representatives and distributors worldwide.  In 2014 Bloomingville became a part of US-based Regent Holding, which is co-owned by Betina and Simon Stampe. The company’s range is covering now not only accessories but also wide collection of furniture. I like to watch how such a brand is growing over the years and to get inspired by it.

What MINI Bloomingville offer us ? Soft, delicate tones on textile, pillows, bedding, blankets and rugs. Ceramic and storage products from small to medium. Little bags, paper decorations -  posters and cards, well the list is very long…and then all decorated with a children friendly graphics of animals.

Carl Hansen Wishbone chair

desk in new white - Rafa-kids Spring 2016
desk in new white - Rafa-kids Spring 2016

I have a new chair love! Carl Hansen, Wishbone chair. This Danish classic design piece is very easy to spot in many Danish houses, but I have actually never had chance to touch it and see it in real. Last week we visited the Scandinavian design heaven in Rotterdam:  Northseadesign, and there it was! The quality, each little detail that you see and touch,  just so perfect….We had opportunity to borrow the chair for a photo session in our Rafa-kids studio! That’s why you can see our NEW white K desk together with the dark wood Carl Hansen, Wishbone chair….Can you imagine, this beautiful chair was designed in 1950! Some furniture pieces never get old and I am now pretty sure I will welcome some in my home one day.
I wish you a wonderful weekend!

One of the positive aspects of attending the M&O in Paris is chance to meet other great brands. BudtzBendix and Tellkido were presenting their collection in the same Hall 6 als Rafa-kids. I had a chance to step by and say hallo, even chat a bit.  Since I haven’t show you these two brands before, now it is a reall must!  BudtzBendix is created by Charlote Budtz and Camille Bendix, two architects from Copenhagen . The Towerchair for kids is their iconic design. Very unique shape, functional and smart, you will not find anything like that on the market!

If you have not been following Tellkido on instagram already, I would be suprised. 34.000 fans, speaks for itself. It’s one of the most personal, friendly accounts I know. Do you need a simple, stylish paper bag to store all the kid's toys? Well, here it is.

The summer holiday season comes to an end. At the same time it is very exited moment for brands to launch their new season products in the interior deco sector. I selected today two of my favourite ones, Ferm Living and LuckyBoySunday, accidentally coming from Denmark. Their modern, minimalist aesthetic is a reason I follow their work almost from the beginning.

Ferm Living has for us a beautiful new collection with the characteristic graphic touch, lovely blue and mustard tons. It’s one of the very simple ways to refresh a room with few new pillows or a new bedding.  LuckyBoySunday, known for their very original softies, are coming this season with 4 new designs! and also there are new rugs ready to play with, in kids’ rooms. I enjoy their work a lot and I’m glad they make such a high quality and well designed products for our little ones.
