COMING kids - Dutch furniture for kids

Coming kids is one of the leading companies which produces children furniture in The Netherlands.
So what is the standard children's furniture looking out here? I will say sturdy and robust. In Dutch language it will be more " landelijk" , which I can simply translate : rustic - plattelands. Not really the minimal and elegant style,  I like the most. The checks pattern in textile in children's deco, is also something very " Dutch" .

My favorite piece of furniture, from Coming kids collection is  "growing with child" changing room, which you can transform into desk or wardrobe. Very smart system and actually I haven't seen anything like that before. Great idea!

Rafa-kids furniture for kids in colors - coming soon

We are so exited to tell you, that soon our Rafa-kids set of F&R beds
are going to be available in two new colors : white wash and dark chocolate.

We like a lot the pure birch color but we think its great to give some more option for people which are not such a big lovers of natural wood color. I do like the dark bed a lot, I could even do the black one, the graphic lines of the beds are becoming so visual and strong. The white version is more delicate and elegant. We will use stain so the wood texture remains visible.  I will be happy to hear your opinion!  I think both beds are getting something extra with the colors, and I hope people will like it, as much as we do.

Please contact us, if you would like to now more about the availability at info@rafa-kids.com

The photo session for the beds is planed in our new studio in Spring , yeeee!

Room make over with Ferm Living

The Danish brand Ferm Living had a competition with Designermor a couple of weeks ago where you could win a make over of a kids room. The lucky winners were the Höder Family from Copenhagen. Here are the pictures of the result from Raffaela's and Balthasar's room. So fresh and modern. Amazing what you can do with a simple room .... so great result!

Gerrit van Bakel toys and furniture for children

water table

 play house

Last night I discovered the world of the dutch artist/ designer/ scalpture Gerrit van Bakel ( 1943 -1984) and I just have to show it! His work is divided into three periods: an early period paintings and works on paper, the "multiplex period" furniture, children's toys and objects made of plywood and the "machine" period with kinetic art, machine-like objects made of steel (metal) and operating on natural forces such as sunlight, cold, rain and wind. It's just amazing. The small car on wheels remainds me so much of the shape of our R toddler bed

Muuto Oto and Rock'n Roll shelf system

This two shelf systems are looking almost the same. They are coming from Scandinavia but from 2 different companies and designers. The first one, is made of heavy-duty paper rolls, stuck to each other with velcro - that's Rock'n roll shelf from ReturnDesign from Sweden. Evadible in a beautiful shop Serendipity where I took this photo from. The second one is from Pil Bredahl designed for the Finnish brand Mutto, and made of fibre glass in white and black.  I really like the concept, it's looking fun and functional. It's a great way to expose nice objects - if we also happen to have a lot of space! ;)

NOBODY chair for children

Nobody chair is also for kids! Danish design duo Komplot created first this char for adults for the brand Hay.  It is an industrially produced chair made entirely of textile and the production process requires no plastic, screws, glue or other reinforcements. The Nobody Chair is molded in one piece and in one single process resulting in a simple, light weight, stackable design object.  So great! On the one photo there is this strange animal - looking like the nobody chair - but I don't know what it is. If you do - please let me know!

Design from Sweden - String system

The good classic design is never getting out of fashion, isn't it?
Nisse Strinning (1917-2006) designed the String system in 1949. Simple metal structure to which we can attach all sorts of shelves of various widths. The shelves are easy to install and can be moved from place to place and extend depending on your needs. You can buy them in a flat box and therefore the transport is not expensive ( IKEA introduced a flat-pack furniture a bit later 1956) This very simple system has become wildly popular in Sweden, where Nisse comes from…and accully String system is doing really well in the modern design world. I'm really not surprise about that! ;-)
