black & white children’s rooms

black& white children’s rooms

Our Monday’s inspiration for children room’s is back!

I don’t know if you like it or not, but I’m afraid that the Black&White kids’ deco trend is still doing very well.  There is plenty of nice accessories to make a playful and original room for a child only by using this two colours. The H&M new kids’ deco collection also seems holding on to this . Black& White interior design is most of the time minimalistic and elegant, but sometimes we may feel is a bit to monotonus. I was giving few ideas how to decorate in this aesthetic here: black-kids-rooms

Personally I can’t really imagine only black and white room, not only for my children but also for me personally.  I will mainly miss natural textures in such a space. I found for you few examples, of a beautiful mix of wooden accessories for children with a simple graphics and white furniture. It makes a serene atmosphere I could definitely live in.

Since a long time, I prefer sleeping in white and happily I pass this to my boys. My older son likes to sleep in this grey duvet and I made a white one for my younger one. ( since I couldn’t find a small size in pure white! )  I was afraid they would ask for colours and patterns, but it was not even a discussion about it, they really like it and I’m so glad they do! And what a wonderful, simple bunk beds set ups on these two pictures below,  quiet and calm. Perfect.

bunk bed from France - AM.PM.

loft bed with desk underneath from AM.PM

I’m always looking for new and well designed beds for kids which appears on the market .
The AM.PM’s furniture collection of bunk beds from France caught my eye recently.
Their collection have a pleasant basic shape and it’s looking functional. The bunk bed can be set up in two position: standard bunk bed and also two separate beds on the ground level.  White colour of the beds it’s a perfect start point to make a personal room. The bunk bed with the desk underneath is my favourite. I really like the storage shelfs incorporated into the bed and shelfs around the desk make an easy place to show child’s treasures. You can’t see the mattress and the sleeping area of the bed , which gives the owner a bit of privacy.

yellow bunk bed & studio soet

colorful children room in the Netherlands
working space for children

Should we start the new year with some colourful, positive blog post and a splash of yellow ?
Welcome in the house of colour and humour -
owner of  Studio Soet and Soetwaren, stylist Myrthe Smit

The yellow bed is a transformation of standard IKEA bunk bed. Like you can see, nobody is afraid of colours in this room! We can see a yellow bunk bed, orange chairs and colourful walls. It always suprise me, that in Dutch children’s rooms you can see pattern wallpaper which is combine with many other textiles and it all magically fits together. Can you spot this retro flower pattern on the wallpaper and then bedlinen on the bed with grid, dots and other flowers?  If I would use a rich pattern wallpaper on the wall I would probably ‘calm it down’ by use of basic colours. Stylist Myrthe Smit is not afraid of playing with many different shapes and colours.  In her work for Studio Soet we can easily recognise the same personal style.

Japanese bunk bed

Japanese bunk bed E-KO

Do you know that many Japanese bunk beds systems are build from single bed which are stuck one on another? I found this a fantastic idea! How it looks, that's another story, but at least I find the concept very interesting . I saw many different simple Japanese beds, but this one was one of my favorite. It is a E-ko bed system which is very practical but also has such a nice friendly look. So we have a single toddler bed, and then we have an option to make a loft bed out of it, and use the space under it for an desk, or put another bed for a siblings. The E-ko furniture system has a whitewash finish and the orange ladder ( which we can add in both side of the bed- smart!) give the furniture a nice twist and a very children friendly character.

let's play under Rafa-kids bunk bed !

Bunk bed dark chocolate from Rafa-kids

Forget the time, when a bed needed to be standing in the corner of the child's room!
We are putting Rafa-kids F bunk bed in the middle of the space and create a playful, cosy and fun room to use. Don't you think that the space under bunk bed is perfect to play and create your child's magic world ? It's not only pleasant to look at, it's actually so great to put it in action!

And yes, we are a parents of two boys, and  they love cars, and they love to play on the floor a lot and use pillows to make fights!  The dark bed can be actually a very cosy and nice background for all the toys we have in a child's room!

When you look at my mood board:
To create this space I wanted to paint one wall in gray color, to calm a bit the dark tone of the bed. Then I used red accents to make it playful. A lot of different pillows, black&white ones to make it a bit graphic. Favorite poster, some boxes for storage and a lot of space to play!  Our boys didn't want to leave the studio when they saw what we made for them, with their toys and books!

Products on the pictures :
2. Red box/ case - Loods 5 / Sliedrecht
3. Black lamp - Loods 5 / Sliedrecht
4. Carpets - IKEA
5 . Pillows: black with white circle - Volt , red/black/stripes - hand made ;-)
6 . All accessories & poster from our boys' room

Loft bunk bed

I really like this loft bunk bed ! Very industrial of course, made from  steel connectors.
Whole atmosphere of this room is so great, look at the amazing old chair standing next to the table, the colors of the bedding are also so nice, lamps, and even the wall ! Restoration Gardware Baby&Child are very professional and take care of every detail in their interiors. I would definitely take this table on wheels to put in our studio ;-)

Bunk bed in a winter mood….

I like small furniture models! They remind me of my student times when I was building architectural models all the time. Now we have our Rafa-kids furniture in a small scale. What do you think about this warm, soft blanket on our F bunk bed ?  ;) Isn't it looking gorges together with the color of birch wood? I like to play with it so much ;)

I wish you a nice warm weekend.

Rafa-kids packing and sending

Last week was really special for us. We send our first pre-order beds. Rafa-kids yellow tape is making the simple boxes so nice ! We really like it. The F bunk bed is now IN STOCK. The R toddler has few elements which have to be remade by the factory, so we still keep waiting for it. Fingers crossed to get them this week!

If you want to know what is going on with Rafa-kids -
