Fold-up Paper Animals

Fold up paper animals
Fold up paper animals

Do you know already the Papier City designed by Papierowemiasto
I just notice that this Polish brand created new product :  FOLD - UP ANIMALS
made out of 100% recycled cardboard.
Set includes 12 sheets of gray cardboard with color print of 20 animals :
giraffe, zebra, rabbit , bear, fox and much more!
Each animal fold size is 10cm .

" Animals are durable and not easy to destroy. "
I think this is not only fun to make and play ( during the Autumn and Winter days )
but also will be looking great as a decoration in child's room.

Poor Toys & Happy Toys

wooden toy from poorex
wooden toy poorex

Two brands: one from Poland and other from The Netherlands.
One called they toys " Poor " the other " Happy" .
Do you know which toy belong to which name? I'm not going to tell you.

What is so interesting for me, is the fact that they both used simple materials. Dutch brand Usuals has crafted a set of handmade wooden toys out of branches from a hazel tree that grows on the family farm of one of the designers. The brand was formed by design duo Van Eijk and Van der Lubbe. The other toys are coming from Poorex and they combine simplified wooden vehicles with household items such as a brush, a plug and a clothes peg.
Do you like them ?

BAWA table for children

If you are looking for some inspiration for a child room with workspace,
please don't miss a new blog post at : handmadecharlotte
At least I don't have to do selection for you, because this is very nice one! ;-)
made by Siham Mazouz from Frenchbydesign
My older son still have 1,5 week holiday before the school will start here.

I just found this interesting set : table & 4 chairs & wooden blocks.
It's not really a desk " back-to-school"  but a small, playful table for younger kids.
It has the " back to basic " look and that's why I like it.  It is design by Klaudia Kuhn from Poland ,
and named BAWA.  You can find more info at : Interiorrecords

Mesyme - work of Monika Swindells

When I came across work of Monika Swindells, ( thank you Kavka for the link!)  I just had to share it with you. She is a polish architect who lives in Liverpool, UK with her husband and 3 years old son. Her house is a project itself - rebuilding and restyling it at the moment.…but more important are Monika's beautiful black-and white, 3d collages…I think they are very unique and playful design objects, made with big passion for details. Monika is giving us a chance to get one pice of her work in a giveaway!  ( only till Monday 17.12 )  So just step by at her beautiful world = blog, and enjoy!

The best TOY of all time

STICKS   STONES  ROPE

Amazing art project made by pracownia k. - consist of basic three toy kit: sticks, stones and rope

" …The project aims to draw attention to the absurd situation in which we find ourselves on the threshold of the twenty-first century. Bombarded by advertising to buy yet another toy, decorated with slogans promising "educational", "creative", "organic" and recently fashionable "innovative". We forget that children have the greatest pleasure in playing with simple things, which are part of our adult world and which children are watching with great interest. Have rope, stone and stick a chance to get back to kids room? Will it only happen when we find it on shelf in a shop ? And a sufficiently high price will convince us about their values, attractiveness and influence on the development of creativity in children?…"

Thank you pracownia k. for this!

Design for children at Lodz Design Festival - program

In 2 weeks time we are going to see Lodz Design Festival in Poland.
Remember why? Here is my answer: must-have-design-award-for-rafa-kids

Last night I was checking the program of the festival, and discovered also an exhibition dedicated to modern design for children. I'm really impressed with the selection. I was showing some of the furniture of we-do-wood, collect-furniturefluxkidsonroof , protein-design but it will be so great to see them in real. I can't wait!

18 - 28 of October 2012, in Łódź, Poland.

To proste! Pierwsze R oznacza Reduce (ograniczaj) - im mniej, tym lepiej, drugie ukrywa słowo Reuse (użyj ponownie) - nie pozbywaj się zbyt szybko, pozwól przedmiotom towarzyszyć ci długo, a trzecie Recycle (przetwarzaj) - ma zachęcać do używania przetworzonych materiałów. Kuratorem wystawy jest Ewa Solorz, autorka  "D.E.S.I.G.N.U",  wydanego przez Dwie Siostry... text via: edziecko

Bunk bed from Rafa-kids - behind the scene pictures

I would like to share with you some photos we did during our first Rafa-kids photo shoot in February and which we didn't use for our website. I was doing few iPhone photos to grab the great moments we got with kids. At the beginning the idea was that the photos should be playful and full of life. We ordered 100 yellow balls which fit perfectly in the openings of our beds ;-) and it was a big play room.  The three models really loved it! It was fun! ….but at the end we decided to go for more neural look on our website. I look at the pics with real sentiment.

Drache und Bär former Czarodziejska Projekt

Lena Hensel is an artist from Berlin and Grzegorz Cholewiak is product designer from Poland . They met in Krakow were Lena was studying art, and where they started their first collaborative project, the Czarodziejska project. So interesting to see this Designstudio between art, graphics and design. The couple moved to Berlin a little over half a year ago where they have new big studio to work under new name Drache und Bär. And what happened when they got a daughter Rosa? They designed an original and playful Toll'sToy for her. " We became interested in the idea of toys that encourage exploration (…) We didn’t design anything new per se but began rather to look more closely at traditional folk toys, at classic toys, and to reinterpret them. At the same time, we wanted to make something truly good, something that would last. " Fantastic isn't it?  If you want to know more about them just stop by and read an interview with Lena Hensel and Grzegorz Cholewiak
