Mesyme - work of Monika Swindells

When I came across work of Monika Swindells, ( thank you Kavka for the link!)  I just had to share it with you. She is a polish architect who lives in Liverpool, UK with her husband and 3 years old son. Her house is a project itself - rebuilding and restyling it at the moment.…but more important are Monika's beautiful black-and white, 3d collages…I think they are very unique and playful design objects, made with big passion for details. Monika is giving us a chance to get one pice of her work in a giveaway!  ( only till Monday 17.12 )  So just step by at her beautiful world = blog, and enjoy!

Maija Louekari

Probably many of you recognize this famous patterns of Marimekko products. Simple but so playful. I was wondering if we actually know, who is standing behind the big company and produce this great work? Short interviews with the designers of marimekko are just here : Marimekko - designers
Maija Louekari  finished  University of Art and Design Helsinki, where she graduated BA in interior architecture and furniture design. I like so much her graphic line, but also the way she plays with colors and forms. Something perfect for me, on the cold winter days, when all gets so gray….and I'm hardly trying to stay positive.

Beetles and Butterflies Posters

Do you know these amazing posters by Hagedornhagen ?
I didn't till last week! The art prints remind me of old silk screen prints with nature motives, but they have such a modern expression.  They will look fantastic in a child / teen room. I also discovered Hagedornhagen memory game and postcards.

Hagedornhagen has been founded by two photographers Mads Hagedorn-Olsen and Anders Morell. They have collected, prepared and photographed selected types of beetles and butterflies, and created a series of art prints of very high quality, as regards to both craftsmanship and artistry. Each artprint has been produced in a limited edition of 2000 copies.

Geometric Animals

I really like the idea of making animals from simple shapes like circles and triangles. It can be a great DIY project to do with kids. I found this gift wrapping paper made by a student project on Behance.net - gallery/Bork It is from Thorleifur Gunnar Gislason, student at the Iceland Academy of the Arts.

Funny accessories for kids from Linda Wary and John Meyers

Do you know the new shop for kids warymeyers created by designers Linda Wary and John Meyers? I can say shortly that the design duo create art installations, paintings, books and illustrations. Linda  and John like to get all of their materials from garage sales and flea markets, and arrange them in the shop and their home in Portland. They have a fantastic taste and sense of humor. You just can't mis it! Their son's Fletcher room is on the cover of the coming issue of Anthology Magazine. Like you see - its filled with all that spacial and precious pieces his parents are talented to find!

Book and Illustration - Leo Timmers

I have at home two big fans of Leo Timmers books! The older one is already a bit outgrowing them, but the 1,5 old is now becoming really fascinated by Leo's illustrations. I think the book "Wie rijdt" ( Who's driving ) and "Diepzee Dokter Diederik" ( Deep Sea doctor Dean) are sort of classic books in the Dutch children world. The illustrations are really appealing to kids and the stories are so funny! I really like to read it and make all the funny noises with my boys ;-)  Leo Timmers was born in Belgium (1970) and he is not only a graphic designer, he actually writes the stories! His books have been published and translated in many countries. In the Netherlands you can get the books from Clavis . It is a real treat!
I wish you all a great weekend!
