Aino-Maija Metsola for Marimekko

Marimekko for kids

Aino-Maija Metsola huhuli textile - for Marimekko bedding set for kids

If you like graphic prints and strong patterns Marimekko brand from Finland is the one which you should have an eye on.
I’m so glad to see the beautiful textile pattern from Aino-Maija Metsola called huhuli , used now for children bedding. Originally this textile pattern was much more darker and now she added a light blue and soft pink to it, and it looks so fresh. The rich wildlife found in the forests of Scandinavia, can be definitely used in a boy or girl room.
Aino-Maija Metsola also designed the playful stationery and toys for

cardboard furniture for kids

Recycled cardboard chair for kids
Recycled cardboard chair for kids
Recycled cardboard storage boxes for kids

We know that kids grow so fast,
so maybe a small KENNO cardboard chair is a nice option for our toddler if we do not want to invest a lot in small size furniture . When a child outgrows it, you can just discard it. The sturdy yet lightweight material can be re-cycled as paper and water-based adhesives are used to create its sandwich construction.

All shown furniture are coming from Järvi & Ruoho Helsinki based design office founded in 2003.
They working on broad field of design, furniture, interior and concept design ,
you can find more at  jarvi-ruoho website.

Maija Louekari

Probably many of you recognize this famous patterns of Marimekko products. Simple but so playful. I was wondering if we actually know, who is standing behind the big company and produce this great work? Short interviews with the designers of marimekko are just here : Marimekko - designers
Maija Louekari  finished  University of Art and Design Helsinki, where she graduated BA in interior architecture and furniture design. I like so much her graphic line, but also the way she plays with colors and forms. Something perfect for me, on the cold winter days, when all gets so gray….and I'm hardly trying to stay positive.
