Inspiration – Alphabet

Last days I was thinking of making some small alphabet book for my son. So I first started to look for some inspirations, and what did I find? The amazing alphabet designed by Shiho Ishikawa .
The unique idea of her works, is the combination of the Alphabet (western culture) and the Origami (Japanese culture). If you fold the alphabet letter, an animal spelled with that initial letter will appear!
I have never seen anything like that before!

Furniture - Tripp Trapp from Stokke

Can you imagine that this high chair for children was designed 40-year ago? Till now nobody had discovered anything so unique and simple, and what is so important, this chair can take you from baby to adult. Thank you Peter Opsvik from Norway! Named - The Tripp Trapp- high chair is the most popular chair for children in the Netherlands,Germany, and in Japan. Children use it also as stairs, so they can climb on it and take something what they should not suppose to take ;-)
You can buy it in 50 countries and in 12 colours; the most popular is natural wood.

I collected some interiors with the Trip Trapp chair, to show you how great design it is, and how it fits to many house styles, from modern to vintage. I got the simple white version! You can see it on the last photo  .

Crafty parents – part 3

Today I would like to present : Arounna Khounnoraj and John Booth from Toronto, Canada,
owners of a beautiful shop bookhou

Finding recently some nice design objects, it appears they are often a work of an architect. I don’t know if that is only coinsidence, or are architects having similar taste? This time it is John Booth with architectural background too. He is making hand-made, beautifull furniture. His wife Arounna Khounnoraj, is working now on textiles and sculptures. Their amazing shop is a multidisciplinary studio, where you can find hand made objects and small production pieces.
Arounna Khounnoraj is shearing her ideas how to decorate your home using recycled materials, new materials and reinventing vintage pieces :here
I totally adore their work. Beautiful design, simplicity and  high standard craftsmanship.

Children room – TriBeCa Family Loft in New York

This great room is occupied by four children , three boys and one girl. Their mum Hanne Larsen is teacher of jazz dance and Angus Dobbie is her husband working in a bank. They moved to America from Australia, and transformed an open loft in Tribeca, downtown Manhattan, into a family home that is both inspiring and functional.  They did not do it all themselves!
The interior architect was Ghislaine ViƱas, here the ofiicial site : gvinteriors
I like the colors of the blue room and of course the bunk beds, which were inspiration for the beds of my sons.

Furniture – Mamama – polish design.

Interesting combination of designers is standing behind this new polish furniture product.
Tomasz Augustyniak graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan , Michał Biernacki is a founder of the Moho Design brand (the first Polish company to receive the Red Dot Design Award) and Ola Mirecka, a student at the Industrial Design Department in Warsaw.
“ The research results and gained experience was transformed into design guidelines for designers working on objects – toys and furniture that would become a natural environment for babies in their first months of life. This is how a project was born. “
Their goals were:
· senses stimulation,
· inducing activity,
· creating interaction opportunities.

Here is the final efect. I think it is fresh and intresting. Mamama site here

Book- Mijn doedel boek.

“Mijn doedel boek”, originally from Germany- “Kritzelbuch” publish by Leminiscaat in the Nederland; it’s made by Frankfur am Main, living artists. Inside are only black and white drawings, and children have to finish them. I find it great in helping to get to know your own personality and see what you have in mind. Super.

You can see water drops all over the page– who is going under the shower?

Empty plate, with fork and knife – what is your favorite pizza?
artist working on the book :
Kirsten Fabianski, Zuni Fellehner, Christopher Fellehner, Anke Kuhl, Jorg Muhle, Moni Port, Natascha Vlahovic, Philip Waechter and Claudia Weikert.

Design – Wallpaper from Little Hands

Little Hands is a Portuguese decor company owned by Leonor Feijó and Marta Belo, producing beautiful wallpaper murals for children.

Lonor Feijó, finished her BA in photography in London, but now photography became her hobby and illustration is her passionate work. Marta Belo, is an architect, she teaches drawing lessons, and the rest the time she dedicates to illustration. I think its really nice mix of talents. The wall papers have something from Alice in Wonderland, a bit of Japanese way of drawing, the subtle colours, and lightness, I really like it. Here you can see more images: Little Hands
