Design from Sweden - String system

The good classic design is never getting out of fashion, isn't it?
Nisse Strinning (1917-2006) designed the String system in 1949. Simple metal structure to which we can attach all sorts of shelves of various widths. The shelves are easy to install and can be moved from place to place and extend depending on your needs. You can buy them in a flat box and therefore the transport is not expensive ( IKEA introduced a flat-pack furniture a bit later 1956) This very simple system has become wildly popular in Sweden, where Nisse comes from…and accully String system is doing really well in the modern design world. I'm really not surprise about that! ;-)

Sleeping time

Days begin to be cold and it is getting dark so quickly. It's difficult to get my kids out of the bed in the morning….and I do not have always the strength to get up also. I think I need to adopt to a new season...
This fresh bedding sets are sort of nice therapy for me. I do not like pink, but the Danish paper doll from Dorte Niedziella change my mind. It is looking so nice together with small pink dots on a gray sheet. I got the black&white bedding at Rafa-kids collection in adults size but If you would like to have it in a small size for your child, just let me know….

Design for children at Lodz Design Festival - program

In 2 weeks time we are going to see Lodz Design Festival in Poland.
Remember why? Here is my answer: must-have-design-award-for-rafa-kids

Last night I was checking the program of the festival, and discovered also an exhibition dedicated to modern design for children. I'm really impressed with the selection. I was showing some of the furniture of we-do-wood, collect-furniturefluxkidsonroof , protein-design but it will be so great to see them in real. I can't wait!

18 - 28 of October 2012, in Łódź, Poland.

To proste! Pierwsze R oznacza Reduce (ograniczaj) - im mniej, tym lepiej, drugie ukrywa słowo Reuse (użyj ponownie) - nie pozbywaj się zbyt szybko, pozwól przedmiotom towarzyszyć ci długo, a trzecie Recycle (przetwarzaj) - ma zachęcać do używania przetworzonych materiałów. Kuratorem wystawy jest Ewa Solorz, autorka  "D.E.S.I.G.N.U",  wydanego przez Dwie Siostry... text via: edziecko

I wish you a great weekend…..

StudioWM at Inside Design Amsterdam

I had a chance to see the beautiful lamps from Studio WM. and to meet the designer Wendy Legro. It's such a great experience - instead of only adoring beautiful picture to actually talk to someone who is creating such a special objects! Wendy and her partner Maarten Colligon are the talented duo behind Studio WM. They started working together after graduation at the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2009, and are based with their studio in Rotterdam. I cross my fingers for a big success of their amazing work.
