Mesyme - work of Monika Swindells

When I came across work of Monika Swindells, ( thank you Kavka for the link!)  I just had to share it with you. She is a polish architect who lives in Liverpool, UK with her husband and 3 years old son. Her house is a project itself - rebuilding and restyling it at the moment.…but more important are Monika's beautiful black-and white, 3d collages…I think they are very unique and playful design objects, made with big passion for details. Monika is giving us a chance to get one pice of her work in a giveaway!  ( only till Monday 17.12 )  So just step by at her beautiful world = blog, and enjoy!

Rafa-kids at Les Enfants du Design

Yes, I smile when I look at Les enfants du design shop. I was stepping by Sophie and Thomas French site many times. I enjoy their clean and modern collection. You should imagine, how happy I was to get an e-mail from them asking if we were interested to work together. I was smiling and I still do. I'm honored and proud that Rafa-kids is standing together with other amazing brands like : Kalon-studios, We do Wood, Oeuf, Hay, Zieta Prozessdesign, and warm colorful pillows of Donna Wilson and posters of Kerry Layton. It is my very Merry Christmas present. Just stop by and enjoy their great taste and style!

Handcrafted furniture - La Clinica

“La Clinica” is a collection of handcrafted furniture produced by local artists based in three different parts of the world: Madrid (Spain), Turin (Italy) and Sao Paulo (Brazil). Launched  in 2010 Ciszak Dalmas. La Clinica is based on the interaction between young designers and experienced artists, which combines new ideas with centuries-old know-how. I really like this trend in furniture design and I hope it will develop on a large-scale.

Auction to raise funds for children.

 Anke and Sanne from StyleCookie.nl  did some beautiful photos with donated products from online shops.They are joining the Serious Request action organize by 3FM. This year they focuses on the 5.5 million babies which die each year because of lack of medical care and counseling. Please join in!

If you following me on Facebook, you already know that our Rafa-kids beds, has been welcomed in Kindercamercompany children shop in Rotterdam. It is located on the Nieuwe Binnenweg 110 – 112, in the center of the city with many nice spots to hang out - cafes, clubs and shops. 

Accully I do not know any other so great shop with children furniture and accessories in Rotterdam  ( if you know - please let me know ! ). We are really honored, that they carry our brand in their established and known shop of the city!  We steped by last weekend (it was rainy and dark) but I did few photo's for you, to have a look inside. I hope you like it. 

Decorating a child's bed - part 1

Since the bed is mostly of the time the largest piece of furniture in child's room, I think it's interesting to look for some inspiration how we can decorate it. 

Please tell me, how the bed of your kids looks like during the day.  I would love to know! Are you leaving the sheets on it, or you clean it nicely with pillows and blanket? My boys don't like when I put a blanket on the bed and organize the pillows . They like ( ohh no surprise about that ! ) comfortable mess! but I do like the minimal look of the photo's ;-)  at least I can dream about it ....

my children Advent Calendar - family village

Last night I did with my boys our family and friends Advent Calendar. 

The idea is that we cut 23 houses and a church to be reached at the end of the 24  advent days. Each house belongs to someone close to us and under the paper door we wrote the names. Every day we are reminded of someone to think about and do something good for that person. If grandma lives far away (yes, she is), then we will make a cart to send to her, or we will call and say something nice. At the end of the road, we will go to a church and thank the baby Jezus, for all this people in our life. I found this idea on some Dutch website and I really like the message which is giving . 

We enjoyed so much making the houses together and talking about which house everybody gets, and what's special about their places…it was a great evening. I wish it will be more days like these this month.
