my reading list for weekend

I hope I will have some time this weekend for my new books and magazines…the stack keeps growing on my desk. I got the beautiful  " Colour Hunting " from my husband yesterday…now we fight who is going to read it first! ;-) Interesting surprise to see the  " Holy Mother " face on a new wallpaper and invitation on the Jean Paul Gaultier show in Kunsthall, Rotterdam in 2013…I also got, long time wanted " Mobilier Design "  from Carole Daprey. 

My head is full of inspirations and colors...;-)

Pastel bedding set from StrikAholic

Have you already noticed the beautiful bedding from StrikAholic on Rafa-kids website?

Not only the modern pattern is interesting but also the colors. It took me some time to find something so special. In the last VTwonen  I have seen a lot of inspiration in pastel and I realized how nice the bedding will go with this color trend.  Dorte Niedziella designer from Denmark use her fascination of everyday graphics together with a sense of humor I really like.

I decided to start something new. 

I see so many beautiful things and I would like to collect them in sort of collages. 

Today inspired by words….unique, soft and special. 

The delicate flowers which bringing the soft color and the stones which give strength. 

Rafa-kids R toddler bed which can go well with the soft colors and texture in a girl room…

that's a feeling of a mum of two boys ;-)  my personal touch.

DIY furniture - Recession Design

Since a long time I wasn't so excited and inspired by someone's design work. When I discovered the Italian design group Recession Design I was just trapped like Alice in Wonderland.  Extremely talented and provocative design group Recession Design has created a whole line of modern furnishing " DO IT YOURSELF DESIGN ", and provided all the assembly plans free to download online. Morissa Morelli, designed 3 objects for children, and her table is called after her daughter's name Nina (she is originally from The Netherlands and living in Italy). Armando Loreti architect designd a Paltrona Armchair, Antonio Cos Children's table&trolley and much more. Over 30 projects are available to download as a PDF at their website.  I'm really impressed by the collection which you can just do using common utensils and accessories. The quality of the design is superb!  

All the furniture were presented at the Salone del Mobile Milano 2010.

Bunk bed from Rafa-kids - behind the scene pictures

I would like to share with you some photos we did during our first Rafa-kids photo shoot in February and which we didn't use for our website. I was doing few iPhone photos to grab the great moments we got with kids. At the beginning the idea was that the photos should be playful and full of life. We ordered 100 yellow balls which fit perfectly in the openings of our beds ;-) and it was a big play room.  The three models really loved it! It was fun! ….but at the end we decided to go for more neural look on our website. I look at the pics with real sentiment.  

Drache und Bär former Czarodziejska Projekt

Lena Hensel is an artist from Berlin and Grzegorz Cholewiak is product designer from Poland . They met in Krakow were Lena was studying art, and where they started their first collaborative project, the Czarodziejska project. So interesting to see this Designstudio between art, graphics and design. The couple moved to Berlin a little over half a year ago where they have new big studio to work under new name Drache und Bär. And what happened when they got a daughter Rosa? They designed an original and playful Toll'sToy for her. " We became interested in the idea of toys that encourage exploration (…) We didn’t design anything new per se but began rather to look more closely at traditional folk toys, at classic toys, and to reinterpret them. At the same time, we wanted to make something truly good, something that would last. Mae Engelgeer - textile designer

Few weeks ago I was in Amsterdam and I stopped by Restored shop. It has really great style and modern look. For the first time I had a chance to see in real the work of the Dutch textile designer Mae Engelgeer. The quality and colors are absolutely gorgeous. I'm a big fan of her graphic design and objects which are standing out in any interior. The new collection woww its not easy to forget.
