Planes, trains & automobiles

Toddler room at Inside Out magazine - Australia
R toddler bed from Rafa-kids in Inside Out magazine - Australia

We are not leaving the toddlers’ playground from our last post : Let's Play with Monsters but we just keep playing. The theme chosen to create this room was all that moves : planes, trains and automobiles. My boys’ would love it!  Rafa-kids R toddler bed with wheels, fits perfectly here. How is it possible, that I never thought about it before!
This beautiful styling was created by Jessica Hanson and photographed by Sam McAdam-Cooper,

I don’t even know where to start to say what I like the most about this set. The Aeroplane shelf is just so cool. Personalised wooden letters with the name of your child, and little cloud lamp, and wooden planes flying around….. little details, making this minimal and modern space so special.  Of course this BLUE! what a beautiful, colour to choose for a child’s room. It makes it so dreamy and relaxed.

Rafa-kids BB bench - InsideOut magazine - Australia

While we pull warm sweaters to welcome chilly Autumn days in Europe
at the same time in Australia the first Spring vibes poping out.

Do you remember my post about a favourite stylist Jessica Hanson from Australia? I adore her work since a long time and always find inspiring what she does. For the October issue of the Insideout magazine she created with Sam Mcadam-Cooper  this amazing Black Swan Ballet dancer set.

We are over the moon to spot Rafa-kids B bench and A teen bed in this girls’ room.  I remember ones a Rafa-kids customer saying, that our furniture is elegant and light. It was so nice to hear and it came back to my mind when I saw this pictures. Sunny colours used for this set give definitely feeling of a fresh start.

Rafa-kids’ desk in a boy’s room - Australia

We were so excited to see this amazing kids’ workspace created by Jacinda Malloy with Rafa-kids’ K desk! Jacinda is an Australian interior designer, sharing her work and inspiration on her website Hidesleep.  This unique room belongs to Benij, who lives with his parents and two twin brothers in Malvern, Victoria. Can you guess what is his favourite color ? of course …Blue. The pin board next to Rafa-kids’ desk gives the space such a fresh splash of colour.  The rug with a strong pattern complets this cosy and modern space. Pin board is custom made by Alandem.  There is more custom made elements in Benij’s room. The hand painted compass on the wall is hand painted by artist Jane Reiseger. Jecinda’s aim was to create a boy’s room with meaningful elements for him. Benij is interested in the world, travel and learning. All the little elements make this space unique and reflect his personality.
You can read and see all the story of this lovely  room ( and much much more )  in Mintymagazine :

Rafa-kids is glad to have a long relation with Les Enfants du Design store in France.  We received a first letter from Sophie Edeine (owner of the store) almost 3 years ago, when Rafa-kids was just a few months old brand. We are thankful to receive support from such a beautiful store. During these years there were up and downs -  believe me, but that’s a part of growing together.
Yesterday I received a link to their new

and skim through pages with excitement. The Les Enfants du Design “  is such a unique place to get inspiration and to shop design objects for our kids.  In the 1st issue of the magazine ( which is now only in French - but in 10 days will be also in English  ) we can meet the lovely family of Sophie and Thomas Edeine and their 3 kids. The room of little April is just so absolutely adorable. I just wished to see their whole house! Interviews , well selected design and contemporary products for kids…with a personal and well curated hand of Sophie. Well done!

How many children’s stores you know which make each season their own e-magazine?
Well, not that many in my option. Cécile Roederer, owner of the Smallable says “ The magazine is precisely their DNA, the essence of their universe. “ I think it’s the most interesting way to show the style of the store and to inspire your customers.   “I love the idea of a concept store.  When you say concept store, you are saying not just a shop but the discovery and creation of an entire lifestyle” .

Smallable, is an online kids’ department store for 0-16 years old, and offers very well selected kids’ designer clothes, and also kids’ furniture and interior design accessories for bedrooms, nurseries and teenagers! This inspiring pictures are made by Pierre Rochand and styling is made by Léonie Escolivet for the new summer season magazine.

whats your favourite colour ?

studio oink for papier mache
studio oink for papier mache

Do you remember my post about Studio Oink ? Well, I think we should keep an eye on them, since they bring more and more original and creative work out there. This time they are part of the current papier mache issue N° 08. They did a full editorial production for it, with a theme  "whats your favourite colour".

“ … Studio Oink with Frida, Elias and Katharina sing out loud their favourite colours  “My lovely lovely lilac flower, come to me and be my friend. I will take good care of you, the whole time to all eternity. “ (Frida)

I’m not a pastel person or soft tones one, but the first photo it’s really my favourite from all editorial made by studio oink . The richness of different textures, kept in one tone I found simply beautiful.

What 3 words best describe the colour ? Loveliness, warmth, youth.
What lovely things are the same colour ? Fluffy bedlinen, Balloons, Perfume.

Have a wonderful weekend!

I went today to the city and how lucky I felt, when I saw the new issue N° 08 of papier mache magazine just waiting for me! This Australian Children’s Magazine aims to showcase artists, photographers, designers, illustrators, writers, inventors, creators, kids, dreamers, doers and magicians….It’s difficult to give you exact feeling of the mag, but even though I’m not that much info children’s fashion I absolutely enjoy and get inspired by this beautiful editorial work and content dedicated this time to COLOR.
Of course the fact, that our Rafa-kids’ desk is selected and featured, is amazing. We feel very honoured and proud.  Thank you so much papier mache for choosing us for your wonderful magazine.
If you can’t get the paper magazine , you can step by the artist’s websites to see some of the work they contributed to this issue:  Enjoy!

“ …Joined by amazing artists and kids, we tried to answer this question together: “ What if you woke up in world made of your favourite colour? “ and out of all the answers we got, here is the advice we took from a wise little boy:
“ Dream your life in colours, it’s the secret of happiness” . His name: Peter Pan. “

In this month's edition of ELLE DECORATION UK
you can find "mini adventure" small part dedicated to children's rooms.
I always get really exited when a magazine like that get involved in creating inspirations for kids' deco. This styling was made by Alex Kristal and photographed  by Jake Curtis. And as far as I can see, we are staying in a monochrome trend, so not much colors for kids. Instead of that, we have a reach pallet of different tones of gray and natural textures of wood, linen, felt, paper decorations and touch of industrial metal. For me, there are timeless beautiful elements which you can use in different parts of the house, not only for kids' rooms.
I will just say : great selection for a modern family!

Some brands and products I really like:
the zilalila knitted bean bag, paper lamps from studiosnowpuppe  and bedding collection from numero 74 and bedandphilosophy . Furniture used in this pictures are also coming from brands not particularly dedicated to kids: little chairs from anothercountry or table from hay, and felt panels above the desk - from Norm Architects ( can be used in any modern working space). Lovely small toys for kids : scizor cusion from sian zeng and paper decoration from mr.printables make the space perfect.
