Villa in Sau Paulo

Villa in Sau Paulo

Finding an authentic place to stay with our family during holidays, is one of my top priority since some time. After we got kids, we hardly ever choose hotels, as they give us sort of claustrophobic feeling and are such a unpersonal place to stay. I always spend a lot of time searching for the best possible accommodation within our budget. Airbnb is a platform that I’m starting my searching path. If you are lucky, you can find treasures, like the one I’m showing you today. This Saõ Paulo villa is created by an architect Paulo and hidden in a very nice residential area of the city. Worth the walk around too!

I’m not going to show you a lot, as I think it is a house with a soul and the pictures can’t do its justices….. Paulo rebuilt two old buildings, connecting them with a charming patio and a large kitchen on the ground floor. I really like the combination of the raw concrete, the unpolished large wood elements with greenery sort of over growing it all. The outside jungle is present inside thanks to using large glass panels, and this creates such a unique feeling when you are around. The villa is decorated with plenty of objects and furniture which we absolutely love, and we felt so well and comfortable, as it was almost our house….well, we could keep dreaming, right?

If you ever going to visit Saõ Paulo, you can find the villa here: Airbnb - Villa Sau Paulo
please send greetings to Paulo from us. Obrigado! one day we will be back!

Easton's Nursery with Rafa-kids L shelf

Don’t you just adore this beautiful Easton's nursery room ? Minimalistic, modern and cosy at the same time. This wallpaper is so adorable! Belinda from Topknotmum, did such a wonderful work for her son. It’s good to see, that if it comes to a first baby space, we don’t need too many elements, to create serene nursery room. I know, it is so tempting to spend too much money, when we expect a child and would like all the best possible, but accully we really don’t need that much. And believe me, each year, many toys and accessories will pop in into this room,  even if we don’t want to…. Let’s start it as simple as possible, what do you think ?

I’m also so glad to show you for the first time, that Rafa-kids furniture can be used for a nursery room, and grow with the child. The L shelf can be used above commode for more practical reason, or like in Easton's nursery, to give a special place for all the favourite and special first belongings of a baby. When Easton will grow, his mom can just simply change all the elements and give the L shelf totally different look…and Easton will be probably soon hanging his own clothes there to.

Remember my post about “ Marsala colour trend in children’s rooms “ ?
Well, it’s looking like we will see more of it in 2017.  I just got in my post-box news from Danish brand Luckyboysunday and ohhh yes! Their new Cuddles and pillows are touched by a splash of Marsala. Do you like it? I think the combination with pink is my favourite, it looks so sophisticated and modern. I adore work of LuckyBoysSunday for ages.  Their products have this weird look, a bit of edgy but fun. You just can’t pass by, becouse it is good to be different , right ?

Monday inspiration - blush pink with blue for children’s room

Today we are talking about unique two colour combination instead of one . The most cliché colour hues for boys and girls - PINK and BLUE. Panton selected for 2016 Rose Quartz (baby pink) and Serenity (baby blue). I find it very interesting that they decided to put together this combination. I noticed very strong movement in gender equality in fashion and secretly hope the genderless trend will start to be more present in children deco too. I believe that style should be above all this traditional perceptions of what ‘should be’ for  boys and for girls, especially if we talk colours.

Both colours, blush pink and blue, stand strongly on their own and while also complementing each other beautifully. My favourite colour combo will be the dark blue and black along with sweet pastels. It is a brave and modern colour mix. We are not very much into blush at our own house, even though my older boy always really liked the salmon colour, close to blush. I gave him some soft pink pillows next to dark blue bedding and it is looking very nice. Haven’t heard comments about it so far, so I will advice to try this colour combo around. Very refreshing.

El Ramla Hamra for Kids rooms

El Ramla Hamra carpets & poufs for the Kids rooms

I'm glad to discover examples of decorating children’s spaces ‘out of the box’.
What do I mean?
I imagine that we decorate space for children with products which we found not in dedicated children’s stores.  I love the idea of using moroccan carpets, poufs & cushions in children’s rooms. They give texture, colour and fun! If kids get bored of them you can just moved them to your living room or bedroom. The same with rugs….
It is the talented stylist/photographer Paulina Arcklin who created all these sets and I absolutely love them. In El Ramla Hamra store you will find the unique products from Marocco , which can be used to create a bit of boho and relaxed vibe.

Remember, that some time ago I asked you what you would like to see more on my blog ? here in this post. Some of you suggested, that it would be interesting to know what inspires me. Well, one of the answers will be - other creative people. Working together duo Scheltens-Abbenes will be one of the top of my list. I just came across their house at the new ELLE Decoration NL and need to show it to you. It is 400m2 space, where this creative Dutch duo work and run a family life with their 2 children. Living and working with your partner, is exactly our life too, so I feel even more inspired.  Maurice is a photographer and Liesbeth is an artists.

“ … Rather than present an object in its original state, they arrange and meticulously photograph their subjects, which eventually take on the form of a new object all together. The innovative couple can be seen as the forerunners of the emerging still life trend and its presence in the fashion realm…”

Their talent is highly appreciated by famous fashion houses, such as Valentino, Hermes, COS, Chanel, Louis Vuitton…..and many more! also magazines, such as Modern Design Review, Fantastic Man, The Gentlewoman or New York Times Magazine are anxious to collaborate with them. If you would like to know more about them, just step by Coffeeklatch for an interesting interview. What I like about their house, is the relaxed and cosy atmosphere, which is a bit opposite of the perfect and conceptual work they make for their clients. I wish one day, we could own such a space, when we could hold under one roof our creative and family life in such a great way.

Today instead of our usual post “Monday inspiration for children rooms”
I would like to show you one of my favourite stylist
If you are interested in the latest trends in kids deco , Aurore Sfez is the one you would like to follow. Her styling work is mostly dedicated to a French magazine Doolittle for whom she is preparing series of pictures. I have a feeling she is creating kind of 3d mood boards, with colours/textures and of course furniture and products for children. That’s why her work can look so different, depending of the season and the latest trend. I’m showing you today her winter atmosphere and the other one with sunny days. I like both of them a lot and thought this will give you a good impression of her style.
You can find Aurore Sfez on Instagram or Facebook, where I found all the pictures.
