blue in children’s room

blue in children's room

different tones of blue by Benjamin Moore paint

“ Blue is commonly used in the Western hemisphere to symbolise boys, in contrast to pink used for girls. In the early 1900s, blue was the colour for girls, since it had traditionally been the colour of the Virgin Mary in Western Art, while pink was for boys (as it was akin to the colour red, considered a masculine colour) ..."

new Ferm Living Spring/Summer 2015 collection for kids

Are we going to see more blue colour in interior's deco in 2015 ? I hope so!
I painted my kitchen wall in soft delicate blue color (the one on the first picture)  like 4 years ago. It’s looking very good with industrial steal elements and white kitchen….it’s one of the very unique coloured wall in our house, the rest is grey and white. (except our boys’ room!)
My favourite addition for blue colour in children’s rooms are tones of grey. It gives blue more contemporary look. Accents of indigo, make a great finish touch. Could you spot the pictures from the Ferm Living new Spring/Summer 2015 collection ? That’s what I’m talking about. What do you think about putting together blue with brown? This colour combination ( on the picture with the moving bed and desk)  is very inspiring and it could be a great combo to use it in a teenager’s room.

Black color in children's room

Black can be very cozy and give safe feeling to a room. It might also be very practical color to use! You can use it behind working space or around the bed, or you can just paint one wall which than child can paint on. My son is 6 and he is already saying he would not mind to have a dark wall, which he thinks is very cool and strong. I personally do not like pure black, but always go for very dark gray or graphite. I  like the first photo with the the dark wall together with the dark cupboards . If you think its too much you can always bring some colorful accessories to make add brightness to a room. What about neons ?  They look so great on a dark wall. I wouldn't mind to have it in my sleeping room too….;)

Elena Nunziata Design - The Little Helpers

The Little Helpers furniture collection is created by italian designer Elena Nunziata for her degree project at the University of the Arts in London. It is a set of five pieces.

The " Paddy" coat rack , has " eyes" as knobs. On the rail model, each of the hooks can be slid from side to side, while on the coat stand, users can adjust the rods position through the central pole. the 'Charlie' hamper is nicknamed the ‘dirty clothes eater’, who stores clothes in a lycra sack that allows clothes to accumulate until its belly is full. Children have a visual indication of when it is time to load the washing machine with their parents. The eyes of 'Melvin the magic bedside table' can be rotated up to reveal lamps within. Nunziata reflects that the table also serves metaphorically as a figure of a night guardian that watches over the child.
Fantastic, isn't ?

Small simple things...

Hello Monday, let's start it with something small and beautiful.
Simple boat from cork and a wooden bird.
Called " Re-turned birds" it is made by Lars Beller Fjetland. The story behind this wooden animals its pretty amazing. ..." When Lars took his bicycle for a spin through his village he saw these containers on every street corner and wondered if he could find any useful material in them. After inspecting some of them he found enough wood to create 20 little birds. That's when the idea of Re-turned"-bird series started….." The simple boat was designed by Portuguese company cooled Materia. The toys, titled Bote have a cork base with an interchangeable plastic mast or cabin…
back to basics I would say.

Vitra for kids / part 1 - Hang it all

Vitra is a furniture company based in Switzerland and well know for its creative genius of leading international designers. Their goal is to create products with high functionality and aesthetic life expectancy. Charles & Ray Eames have influenced Vitra's approach in many ways.  I can say that this company is producing classical modern pieces of furnitures that have been used for decades and never get out of fashion. The children are also customers out there! Many designers created furniture and objects specially for kids. Today I want to show you a " Hang it all " hanger designed by Charles & Ray Eames.  For me the beauty of all this objects is the appeal to both adults and children. This makes them perfect part of any room!

Tekturowo - cardboard DIY

houses

monster truck race
 car

Tekturowo is one of my favorite blogs. It is all about amazing and really talented 6 year old boy. He is making paper projects to play with. Can you believe he is doing this by himself ( his mum is writing that some time there is a little help) Don't you think the details are amazing? The modern houses with the interiors - just adorable! I love the idea of making toys from simple materials like paper and use your imagination to create your own playground. I wish we all be so creative like kids can be!  If you want to look for more inspiration have a look at blog :  tekturowo
