Minimal Rafa Bedroom
It’s been three weeks since our return from holidays already, but we seem to run still a bit slower. I don’t rush the busy working days to come back into my life. Do you cherish your hours of sleep? I noticed since the trip, how proper amount of sleep, affects my mood and how I feel during the day.
Maybe that is why our first Rafa-kids photo shoot needed to be about comfort and simplicity in a bedroom. I love this large A teen bed in white. Can you imagine the same bed used for your child's early years, and then just restyled for a teenager?
The A120 bed looks so light and minimal because the legs are designed a bit away from the front line, and that creates this contemporary effect. I wanted to keep everything very minimal so you can see how beautiful this bed is. Together with the Rafa-kids S shelf and B bench, it is such a complete look. I hope you like this calm and elegant atmosphere, as much as we do.

Rafa-kids & Fabelab
There were boxes of beautiful stuff arriving from Copenhagen to our studio last week. We teamed up with Danish brand Fabelab and received their gorgeous textiles, cuddly toys and tipi tent. We love to collaborate with other creative brands, so setting up this toddler room was for us such a treat . Beautiful shades of grey, soft pink and reach textures of felt baskets from our collection are the main theme of this latest Rafa-kids inspirational photoshoot. We would not be ourself without adding a splash of yellow into this Scandinavian calmness!
We selected All White furniture of Rafa-kids, to give a great base to play around with these Scandinavian accessories. You know how much I like baskets! Remember this blog post ? Well, I think they are such a great way to store kids’s toys. The tipi tent gives such a dreamy atmosphere to this space. I think we will keep this set in our studio for some longer time....
What you can find in this room ? Here is a little help.

Danish Design - Luckyboysunday
Remember my post about “ Marsala colour trend in children’s rooms “ ?
Well, it’s looking like we will see more of it in 2017. I just got in my post-box news from Danish brand Luckyboysunday and ohhh yes! Their new Cuddles and pillows are touched by a splash of Marsala. Do you like it? I think the combination with pink is my favourite, it looks so sophisticated and modern. I adore work of LuckyBoysSunday for ages. Their products have this weird look, a bit of edgy but fun. You just can’t pass by, becouse it is good to be different , right ?

Ashes of Roses bedding set and how I get things my way….
I was questioned many times, where do I take my inspiration from. Well, it is not so easy to answer that question with one sentence. Inspiration for me is a process of collecting fragments and putting them together like a puzzles into something new. I look at Interior magazines, movies, Pinterest , I like to discover new places and I’m carefully watching reality around me…even when I’m standing in a line making grocery. When I go to a caffe, the front window with the view will be always my favourite spot.
When I saw for the first time this beautiful bedding - Ashes of Roses, I knew, we needed it in our Rafa-kids bedding collection and that I will create a new room with it. As I’m not a pink fan, I’m glad to discover so many different tones of this colour and play with it. This particular image of iittala with issey-miyake I find very inspiring. I automatically imagined cosy, warm and magic sleeping space for a little girl. Then I collected other elements around Rafa-kids furniture and created a new space called - Sweet dreams.
What is my secret? Well, I learned to believe in my own feelings and taste. If i doubt, then I just don’t do it and go other way, I take a break, I take a coffee. It is not always easy, and I do have many doubts, especially if you do something out of your comfort zone, but well….this is just a part of creative process. The final effect is sometimes better, sometimes I’m not happy about it ( there are some Rafa-kids photo sessions and furniture which are never published/produced ) but we are not perfect, right ? The most important is to try and to do the best we can.

NEW A teen bed - wide and comfy
It took us a while, but we did it! We had plenty of customers asking for designing a wide and comfortable bed for their kids. We tried, we sketched , talked about it and talked even more. Then we looked at our classic A teen bed which is a part of F&A set combination, and thought, well, why not to try and make a wider version of it. It is such a simple, elegant bed - do we really need something more? Let’s try it.
Few weeks ago we got first prototype in Rafa-kids studio and we liked it a lot from the first moment we’ve put it together.
If you have a lot of space in your child’s room and would like to get a bed which will go for years,
I think we have an answer for you - A teen bed.
It is a very slim bed design with a great material efficiency.
The best of both worlds: very sustainable in production and beautifully minimal in design.

Blue at Rafa-kids
The school holidays just ended and we are back from a little winter break with our boys. After few days at home with them (with a lot of rain in The Netherlands) we spontaneously decided to leave. In only 3,5h drive from home we were at little village in Germany with snow and son! The fresh air and the blue sky! It was exactly what we needed….
It’s a new week and time for our Monday inspiration. I thought, let’s start this week with fresh white and different tones of blue from Rafa-kids collection. Do you know that we carry some beautiful stonewashed linen bedding? I wanted to add beautiful lightweight texture and comfort to our furniture collection. Pure linen fabric is pre-washed in the production process and guarantees extra softness, luxurious comfort and sweet dreams to you and your loved ones. We are proud to have also especially made for Rafa-kids - junior size stonewashed linen bedding . And this blue colour of linen is just divine for the coming Summer, don’t you think ?
Our Blueberry wool blanket is not only for winter, since it keeps you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Wool is a natural “high-performance” fabric – it’s naturally good for your skin and body. I am constantly stunned that all these products do not only look so beautiful, but are made with a lot of care and are so good for us.
I can only say - Let’s treat ourself well!

Sleepy Open Eyes - trend
In kids' garments and kids' deco I spot many graphic patterns with : Sleepy and Open eyes.
It’s sometimes difficult to find out which brand came first with a new idea. It happens that at the same time in different countries the same pattern pops out. I could see that collection of Spanish brand Bobo Chooses “ Who is coming for breakfast “ from last summer was very Eye-catching, but also the bedding from American brand Bla Bla kids with closed eyes is already on the market for a long time…
I can’t tell you, who was originally there…but we can just enjoy it, right?
I really like Sleepy eyes pattern on bedding and pillows. Perfect match, don’t you think? That’s why we have a beautiful new design added to Rafa-kids collection : These Sleepy eyes bedding set. I’m a fan of little Good night cushion, from Studiomeez for ages, but it seems that the designer doesn’t make it any more….This beautiful Bla Bla pillow on the other hand, will be available in Rafa-kids bedding and blankets collection very soon! How exiting!
Thank you for inspiration, photo’s credits:
