Ugo Rondinone Vocabulary of Solitude

We are so lucky. This amazing 45 clown sculptures came to Rotterdam, long way from Ugo Rondinone’s studio in NY! The other day I took my younger son Robert and we went to the museum of modern art Boijmans to see them up close .
My son, wasn’t really sure how to behave….he was a bit scared but he was very intrigued…
” mom, are they real ? mom, are they dead ? can I touch them ? can I sit next to him ? “
I didn’t even want to say anything. I whispered, not knowing why. Their closed eyes asked for sort of magic silence. I love their amazing colourful costumes with glitter and contrasting socks , like they would like to get all our attention, even though I could feel their loneliness…

If you plan to visit Rotterdam, the exhibition is open till 29 May. I highly recommend it.

Jane Reiseger drawing for Royal Children’s Hospital

Visiting hospital with our child is one of the experience we wish to avoid. In my architect’s practice, few years ago I was having a chance to work on a transformation of an old children’s hospital into a friendly place for the little patients and their parents. We have had many meetings with the staff, listening their needs and requests. It was very moving experience for me. The final effect wasn’t so spectacular as the Royal Children’s Hospital I’m showing you, but it was simple and colourful too.

I think it is very important to spread the good examples of how to create such a spaces. Jane Reiseger, an artist from Australia, was working on this project for an entire year! I really adore the world she has created in her drawings, with animals and floral patterns. Children like nature so much and sometimes during a long stay at the hospital, they miss the fresh air and playing outside the most. I wish investors/architects to put effort into creating such a beautiful and children friendly hospital interiors.

small gift for small people

Milimbo is a graphic studio and little publishing house fron Spain
where we work into differents ways to telling.
Sometimes we do it writing stories, or illustrating them, sometimes we do it too creating a game, because we understand the game as a way to do and to get knowledge.

And that's what we do.
Telling with images using a simple code, graphic, wich lead us to the symbolic reading,
as do the fairy tales and oral tradition."

In this time of year, we are looking for little presents for our children. At least I do ;-)  My boys, are very much into lego (7 years old) and he exactly knows what he wants to get, which makes life easier, but at the same time a bit less exited for me. My younger one (3 years) likes lego too, especially aircrafts and he already tries to build his own ones, which is very nice!  Animals are also a big interest at the moment, especially dinos. Nothing very much different from other boys I guess…..I went to the city the other day, and after 1h, I got so tired of all what I saw….the amount of ugly products for kids… I ran home, and got back to my online world. It's good to know that there is so many original, simple toys, all around the world, made by creative, talented people.

Milimbo is one of my favorites. I don't know what I like the most about it. The simple shapes and sober colors of a cartoon, the playfulness at the same time….I'm afraid I can only get them now, to put on my desk and enjoy to look at. I somehow missed the moment to introduce them to my kids….
or maybe it's not to late?

Curated by Fine Little Day / Wallpaper

Have you already seen the new project ran by talented Elisabeth Dunker from Fine Little Day brand ?
She was invited to curate a collection of five wallpaper designs for a Photowall
Elisabeth selected her 5 favorite artists:

Each of them designed unique pattern and they were all presented last week on Fine Little Day blog.
My favourite is the black and white one made by Mogu.
I would like to see it in some more modern children's room, it's looking so playful and graphic.
There is a giveaway ran at the moment , just have a look : Wallpaper giveaway

The other news is, that Fine Little Day got married with Little red stuga brand!
I find it very interesting, that they will work together
and I'm curious what beautiful products they will bring to us!

Hello July - True Blue from Saša Antić

Hello new month July ! Bring us some blue sky please….

When my 6 years old son saw our first photo-session photos, he said they are too gray! Since the favorite color of both of my sons is blue I would like to make new photos with this color! I know, I know, blue for boys, so boring !I came across an amazing True blue board on pinterest of Swedish stylist  - SaÅ¡a Antić, and I selected few of my favorites. Its amazing how different blue tones we can have….I really like the light blue, water, transparent and the dark ones, indigo tones, so close to black. You can actually create all different moods and feelings with it, depending of the tone and texture. Have you ever realized that two pictures put next to each other 'speak' better than just one?

What is your color mood right now?
