Face to face

There's interesting post on the Finelittleday blog about showing you own face on the blog. Do you miss it here? Would you like to see the author of the blog? Is this making you more attached to it?  I've never shared a picture of myself on this blog, so I thought maybe it would be nice chance to let you know who is standing behind the Rafa-kids blog. I took the camera yesterday and did few pics of myself. The one bellow is more official one. I hope you like it. Hello from Agata! 

Toddler bed from Rafa-kids - behind scene pictures

Welcome the little R toddler bed on my blog. I though I will give it some attention and share with you some behind the scene photos. You can see the ones we didn't use for the website. Do you have sometimes a feeling that the photo doesn't show good enough what you see? I got the same feeling with this cute little bed…really. The R toddler bed has only few elements and it is so easy to put together. At the beginning we had an idea of using the space under the bed for smart storage. We designed small and big nice boxes on wheels where child can keep toys and use the whole box to play with: use it as a table and the small one as a chair…it turned out to be to expensive to produce for the moment - but we don't give up! Many things still to come….

I need a change…

Last weekend it was a bit busy here at home….I decided to paint almost all house ;-) no that's not possible with two small monsters running around. I painted just my small working space and our living room. Finally the green color which I was having there is gone! I go for gray and simplicity. It feels much better now. I made also a small present for myself ;-) black&white scarf from the surrur book tutorial, its looking nice. And more…. I decided - NO MORE iPhone photos. It's going to be difficult, because its so easy to go with your phone everywhere, but with camera, I almost forgot it exists! shame on me. It's time to get back to my SLR and quality. 

Arne Jacobsens ABC for kids

Since a long time I have the Arne Jacobsens porcelain caps with letters on my wish list. I like them so much! What a nice surplice to see a new ABC series for kids, made out of melamine. The cup and plate with the beautiful letters from 1937. The typography is originally drawn by Arne Jacobsen for Aarhus City Hall in Denmark. Yes, I want them all ;-) via: Design Letters

Small simple things...

Hello Monday, let's start it with something small and beautiful. 

Simple boat from cork and a wooden bird. 

Called " Re-turned birds" it is made by Lars Beller Fjetland. The story behind this wooden animals its pretty amazing. ..." When Lars took his bicycle for a spin through his village he saw these containers on every street corner and wondered if he could find any useful material in them. After inspecting some of them he found enough wood to create 20 little birds. That's when the idea of Re-turned"-bird series started….." The simple boat was designed by Portuguese company cooled Materia. The toys, titled Bote have a cork base with an interchangeable plastic mast or cabin…

back to basics I would say.

Raw and not finished touch in children rooms

Do you like raw, natural look of materials in child's room? I noticed its been lately very popular in children deco. The unfinished beds are also produced not only because of the aesthetics but maybe more from the economic reasons. Definitely the two of the beds I'm showing you today are from Piet Hein Eek CRISIS collection. You can always paint them in any color you like but you can also keep the natural look of it. My favorite is the last bed…the cute toddler car, found on a secondhand market by the owner. Its really fantastic, left also in the natural material.

Welcome June with the style of Laurence Simoncini

Laurence Simoncini is an owner of a dedicated to kids Parisian boutique with an American name, Serendipity founded in 2004. The co-creator is Elisa de Bartillant. I found it pretty amazing that Laurence Simoncini has such a consequent style and taste as well in her private life as in work, and that's why I decided to show you both sides today. I think I've never wrote about French design for kids on Rafa kids blog before! Honestly it's not really my cup of thee…but this time its a big exception. I really like the mix of vintage and modern design in children deco. Especially the rough and industrial character is my favorite and its exactly that what Serendipity uses as their main concept. Maybe now it doesn't sounds really original, but 8 year ago they were pioneering this concept! Serendipity next to their special selection of products, has its own line, for example the wooden Louis 22 bed I'm showing you. I think that Serendipity makes great work of giving each of their objects a clear and recognizable homestyle.

Child's bed from Finland - muurame

70's-child bed

You have probably already noticed that I am a fan of beautiful design classics. Today a child's bed - designed in 1950 by Pirkko Stenros. I'm not surprise it is still in production by muurame in Finland. They have in their collection a normal size bed, a toddler bed and a bunk bed. I like the toddler bed with the red, half circle which protects the child from falling. In the other version they changed it for elevated sides of bed.
