Dutch soft toys from Esthex

I don't know how it is possible that I didn't write about Esthex on my blog ? How could I have missed one of my favorite Dutch companies dedicated to the small ones ? So yes, here we go. It was already 9 year ago when Esther Schuivens made her 3 first dolls. She went to one of the shops in Maastricht to show them without planing any future…the dolls were immediately sold out! Year later she received an order from a big Dutch company called : Kids Factory…and that's how it all went. Esthex is now a big line of dolls, toys and also postcards all with beautiful design touch of Esther.

In a new issue of Dutch magazine Adriadne at home - kinderen , you can see Esther beautiful old house , where she lives with her husband Joost and their three daughters! Twins - Hannah and Moos (6) and Linn (2,5) .

Personal baby blankets from studio ROAM

first photo -  " Happy Giraffes"  design by Marcus Oakley for studio ROAM

Sonia Ambrosano and Lachlan Munro are standing behind the Studio ROAM.  This talented duo are textile and knitwear designers, based in the heart of the Scottish Borders. Every day, studio roam meet, work and share knit knowledge at their studio and micro factory in Galashiels, which has a long and distinguished textile and knitwear heritage.
"… It also happens to be surrounded by some rather beautiful countryside, full of rolling hills and winding rivers, which inspires us every day.  We are determined to respect this nature and history and look to use only the finest natural and sustainable materials we can. We are using these wonderful materials to create unique and limited edition decorative knitted products for house-baby-fashion. "
Each personal blanket is made out of cashmere and wool, has his own character and strong identity. Really personal, high quality and beauty.

this week I was reading....

the new VTwonnen and Elle Decoration are out! I really love the new working studio of Kiki en Joost in big factory in Eindhoven ( 1100m2 wow !)

the beautifully refurbished house of Sophie van Westrenen from Rotterdam. The big staircase and shelfs for books had to be placed through the roof! And the working corner with the industrial desk from Lloyd van Funcionals - looks so inviting! ;-)

The book " How they work " by Inga Powilleit & Tatjana Quax is now on spacial offer by  010publisher. ( from 39.50e - for 19.50e ) its not a new one - but definitely worth look reading. The way the work of designers/artists is shown in this book its really amazing…you are just drawn into it. I almost feel like I'm there touching all the details and feel the atmosphere! So inspiring!

I wish you a good weekend!

Danish furniture - We Do Wood

I am a big fun of Danish design (I like the country too ;-) so today another great company from there. We Do Wood is not new. On the market already since 2006. It is owned by designers duo Henrik Thygesen and Sebastian Jørgensen. They create chairs, tables, shelving systems, etc. - all made of bamboo wood and they pay particular attention to  sustainability.  " Good  furniture must quite simply stand there and invite you to use it" explains HenriK Thygesen. What I can say more? High quality and honest furniture. The new photo shoot made by Mikkel Rahr Mortensen and styled by Gitte Kjaer  is fantastic!

Book- WERELDETERS

What a pity the book WERELDETERS is only in Dutch! Marjolein de Vlaam got this amazing idea of introducing to her kids the kitchen from around the world! She had enough  complains from kids during the eating time. So now you got a passport and you are invited to join! ;-) The concept is simple - choose some simple recipe from a certain country, collect few funny, simple stories ( depends on the age of a child), which you will tell your kids starting the dinner. Marjolein is sure it works! The concept was tested by other moms and kids. Of course you will not do it every day but make a special day from time to time. I love the idea and we are going to try it for sure! The book is full of beautiful photos, great inspirations and tips. Eet smakkelijk!  ;-)

You can buy the book here wereldeters-shop - 2 passports and stickers are included!
