Rafa-kids BB bench - InsideOut magazine - Australia

While we pull warm sweaters to welcome chilly Autumn days in Europe
at the same time in Australia the first Spring vibes poping out.

Do you remember my post about a favourite stylist Jessica Hanson from Australia? I adore her work since a long time and always find inspiring what she does. For the October issue of the Insideout magazine she created with Sam Mcadam-Cooper  this amazing Black Swan Ballet dancer set.

We are over the moon to spot Rafa-kids B bench and A teen bed in this girls’ room.  I remember ones a Rafa-kids customer saying, that our furniture is elegant and light. It was so nice to hear and it came back to my mind when I saw this pictures. Sunny colours used for this set give definitely feeling of a fresh start.

Monday inspiration - Baby Blue for children’s rooms

Monday inspiration - Baby Blue for children’s rooms

Today I’m back with inspiring Monday post about Blues in children rooms
Forget about the traditional baby blue coloured nursery rooms for baby boy! I hope we are over this generalisations and that baby blue colour is also a perfect tone to decorate girls’ rooms. They love to wear blue, right ? It is such a calm, relaxing and dreamy colour to add into children space. We are currently repainting our boys’ room and when we asked which colour they would like…my 10 years old son asked to paint the white walls - blue…

Last week Rafa-kids created in our studio this soft and delicate room with a touch of blue. The photo session was dedicated to our NEW B bench and BB bench. We went for natural wood and whitewash furniture with plenty of beautiful textile : linen , felt and wool. Perfect ingredients for a cosy Autumn day.
I’m glad to see more and more examples of using soft blue tones with grey for a modern children spaces. It brings lightness and fresh air into home deco during the dark days coming ahead to us.

Last Friday we went to look for inspiration at the biggest Design and Interior Fair in The Netherlands called - VT wonen&design Beurs taking place in Amsterdam. We were so exited to discover, that the Dutch magazine vtwonen created space for kids in their pavilion. It was not just one little room…it was large and impressive open space.  The main element was a built platform where child can sleep and play and on the other side there was a separate area for working. My favourite element was definitely the built platform with the drawers underneath for all the toys and also a large wardrobe. Open shelves gave chance to expose all little treasures. Just perfect. I really liked the colours combo kept in this era. Grey was contrasted and refreshed with orange, which gave cosy and warm feeling. The working area was dark and calm, with a galaxy theme. Kids’ house was filled with plenty of vintage finds, industrial furniture like chairs or shelves, which made this space look so personal. Such a wonderful atmosphere….
and we spotted Rafa-kids XO game and X stool in black in there!
Unfortunately on the entire fair it was not much more inspiration for children except this pavilion….I will show you more from the fair shortly.
Happy weekend my dear readers.

Kids room at Habitare Interior Fair 2016

I find it interesting that more and more children’s deco is appearing at the International Design Fairs. Generally the world of kids isn’t part of this kind of events. We have fairs dedicated to interior deco and then the kids world has his own places and time. I always find it a bit shame, also in the interior magazines, that kids theme is hardly ever included. I see the light in the tunnel though…. I was exited to find out that at the Finish Habitare Interior fair, there will be kids session …

This children room was created by magazine Asun, styling assistant: Jaana Niittynen.  What a great idea! Such a nice calm and ready to play atmosphere. I really like the monochrome colour palette and the combination of raw wood with a bit of peach and mint.
Let’s hope we will get more of such events created to inspire us.

Deep burgundy, carrot red, marsala with contrasts coming in natural cream , grey and green…..

Not many of you know, that I finished 5 years of art school specialising in ceramics. I use to paint a lot and even had few exhibitions….and my paintings were not black and white! but had intensive contrasting colours. I’m very sensitive regarding colours around me and as you see in this selection, I like to mix and match the same colour from different fields, to give you a total  - hopefully inspiriting look.
If you think, that Marsala colour is not very much Scandinavian…well, let’s just look at traditional Swedish houses for a moment…I find this particular colour pallet a bit difficult, but it has it’s depth, elegance and chic, if used in a modern way. I absolutely love the combination with grey and dark green.

Welcome Autumn!

Do you remember my blog post about Bohemian vibe in children’s rooms?  One of the characteristic elements of this style, is to decorate it with unique, one of a kind, objects. Unfortunately not all of us can travel to find them in different parts of the globe and take them back home…but there are people which would love to do it for us!  Couleur Locale store concept is based on this nomad need of traveling and searching products which are one of a kind pieces. Don’t you like that? Each stool, lamp or even little bowl and basket tells a story…..and this can be found in Marocco, Kenia, Senegal …you can read more about it here

I really like this beautiful styling and pictures created by stylist Cleo Scheulderman
and photographer by Jantje Jelmaat at the authentic Maroccan home transformed into a modern space.

Modern and Relax girl room

Modern and Relax girl room

Modern and Relax girl room

Let’s have a look at this unique and well curated Girl room, which I found on Avenuelifestyle. There is nothing better than to know a personal story hidden behind such a project, which you can read on this blog post : Lolas-bedroom-before-after. I’m not sure if I can say much more about it…

Why I like it so much ? Definitely this little reading nock, which is custom designed and made by Lola’s parents is my favourite part of the room.  Please also notice the collection of textile, starting from rug, blankets and pillows, the colours are just subtle and cosy, giving a lot of reach texture into Lola’s room. What about the little colourful baskets on the desk matching so perfect with the Maroccan rectangular rug?  They give a bit of boho vibe into this room which is so nice. A perfect, beautiful room, don’t you think ?
