Open STUDIO

Last weeks we were busy paining and refreshing our studio in Rotterdam. We are almost finished and ready for the new season to start!  Yes, we can’t wait! Before that happens we thought, it would be great to OPEN THE STUDIO to welcome our local followers and friends of Rafa-kids while running this one off 3 DAYS OUTLET. Please note in your agenda :

Why we do it ? 

Since this Summer we moved our stock into a bigger warehouse and now the studio is a place only for our creativities. We still have some furniture, photoshoot props and beautiful textiles. Come over to meet us and grab some nice occasions! See you soon….

Rafa toddler bed - in real homes....

It’s Monday again and this time I invite you to a private rooms of two small boys…

Coincidentally both of them lives in Poland. 

How cute are these little toddlers, sleeping already in their ‘big boys’ beds. Aren’t they ? 

Some of our customers ask us if it is possible to make the R toddler bed longer, so it can last for some more years. Well, not really. This bed is designed for children from around 2.5 and will last till they are 6-7 years old. Then they will be ready for a normal size bed or maybe for a bunk bed ? I don’t think my 9 years old would like to sleep in a bed with wheels and side boards. Our R toddler bed is an unique furniture for this very special time of life… it is a perfect bed when the child moves out of the crib and this is the way we see it.  Let’s enjoy the time when they are little….

Ferm Living Kids | A/W 2016 collection

I really like the start of the new Autumn/Winter season. When summer comes to an end a new wave of inspiration cheers us up. I’m waiting with excitement to see new beautiful products from our favourite brands. Ferm Living is one of them and it is always such a pleasure to watch their fresh 

new catalogue - Ferm Living Kids | A/W 2016 collection

We see again their signature graphic prints and minimal forms on NEW WALLPAPER, BAMBOO DINNER SETS and Kids Aprons. Funny HOUSE WALL STORAGE welcomed in the collection this season.  What else is new? Maritime motifs with fishing boats and on the other side sweet cherries, and festive drums decorate wooden mobiles and cushions. Stylish, playful with a good dose of colours. 

Blue Half Painted Walls in children’s rooms

We are back to our Monday’s posts with inspiring children’s rooms. 

Today I would like to show you two trends in one post. 

Did you notice such a popular idea of half painted walls in a room ? 

Well, I like it a lot especially in children spaces. 

How to do it ? It is good to select one or two walls and after paining it create around it an unique atmosphere for your child. Putting the bed next to the wall can be a great deal , since it creates immediately a cosy sleeping corner.  A little chair, night shelf and you got it! I’ve also found some nice examples for using half painted wall for a child’s working corner.  Wall painted half, will make room look a bit smaller so I think it is more suitable for spaces with high ceilings. 

Second trend I’ve noticed is the use of DARK BLUE colour in home deco. It is so beautiful! Great refreshment after the black ones, don’t you think?  I secretly hope it will be popular colour for this up coming Autumn.  Let’s combine it with ochre, mustard and brown or even yellow. All the rooms I’ve selected have this very pure and serene looks. Not much furniture, products, just some very essentials - so simple. It gives a rest, so good for our little ones. Let’s calm them down a bit, if possible!

Dream Big - modern nursery

It’s not often, if ever, that I show you a nursery room on the blog.

This one however I found so special that I just needed to present it to you. 

Little boy Marin is a 3rd child of talented illustrator and stylist Faustiane. Her blog Jesus-sauvage is filled with plenty of inspiration for your home not to mention, she has a fabulous house herself, which you can spot sometimes on her very popular Instagram account. Well, that’s a little introduction if you don’t know her already. No surprice, that this mom with a good sense of style has created this modern nursery for her little boy.

The room was created as a part of a larger room of parents. I really like this way of dividing a room. Glass panes visually connect the space and keep a lot of light. The base of the room is kept in white, together with basic furniture in the same finish. I absolutely adore the way the String shelve system was used in this room.  Remember my post about String here ? I haven’t seen it before in a room for a little baby. Everything is so well arranged and organised. The little hang wardrobe is just adorable! When Marin will grow up, he can easily use the shelves for other purposes in his toddler or teenager room. The colour shame is also so nice. The blue with mustard and stylish accessories.

ZARA mini Autumn 16

I’m so exited to start a new week with pictures of new ZARA mini Autumn 16 campaign. 

Can you spot Rafa-kids new B Bench in there ? How cool is that! 

I was always a big fan of work of the Dutch stylists Jantine Vaartjes and Vivian Hoebe who are running unique studio April and May . It is not the first time that they work for ZARA - you can find the old post about it here. I think our new BB bench fits the minimal and warm look of the collection so well, enriched by using a simple elements. Photographed by BEELDSTEIL. I hope you are well and it’s going to be a good new week ahead of us. 

Summer end

We are back….

4 weeks off, 4 weeks without connection with the internet world. I hope you are still hanging around here through my very long break. It feels a bit difficult to catch up with all what happened during this break, so please give me some time to adapt. Our boys are staring school this Monday and I will be back to work straight away.  It was so good to relax, walk endlessly on the sand beach and do not plan, do not rush at all…. I selected few of my favourite vacation pictures and I promise that everything will be back to normal on the blog very soon.

Vacation time

It’s this special time of year when we take a break. Time to recharge the batteries and escape from the every day school routine of our boys. We are not leaving very far away or taking world trip, nope. We are going to visit our family and friends and spend some good days on the beach….

sandy toes,  long walks and wind in our hair.  That’s what we really need at the moment…

but we're looking forward to coming back refreshed, inspired and ready for good Autumn/Winter season.
