NIDI - furniture for today's youngsters

NIDI furniture for today's youngsters
Battistella furniture for kids
Battistella - new NIDI furniture for modern kids

Finally! For ages I haven’t seen such a fresh and brave children’s furniture collection.
Please discover the new : NIDI Graphic Collection, made under the roof of  Battistella. Well known, family company which started in 1953, by Mr. Alfredo Battistella in Soligo, Italy. In 1963, the Battistella brand was the first to launch a line of children's bedrooms in laminate on the Italian market! Currently the innovative business is run by the founder’s son Mario. NIDI is a collection of children's bedrooms that combines play and design in the spaces dedicated to today's youngsters.

“ … Basic shapes and minimal design are the keywords of Nidi graphic world!
Squares, lines and triangles give shape to Vanny, the geometric desk with secret storages,
 in all your favourite colours!..”

Where do I begin my delight? The architect’s heart beat faster when I see a modern house like that, chosen for a photo session for a kids collection.  Open, big space with concrete walls and floors.  The furniture are designed with an appreciation for the modern aesthetic  with a twist. Contrast between raw concrete and red accessories make the space so playful and fool of light. Fantastic!

dream kitchen

rebuilt a city farm in Workum, The Netherlands

I dream of an open kitchen with a big table and a lot of space around it….
exactly like the one you see on the pictures. This amazing space belongs to Maamke en Rob, who rebuilt a city farm in Workum, The Netherlands. Their every day life concentrate around this unique space and they just like so much to hang out with friends and family around it. The little details, which make this kitchen/dining room so durable :  concrete floor, black industrial window frames, the mix of different chairs, even the flowers on the table put so carelessly.... Cosy, warm and so natural.
I just wish to be there for a moment, to grab this coffee.  I blame the spring air , you know….

Happy and relax weekend to all of you!

small tour into our house

Today I open the door of our house and I will show you a bit of our space.
We live in Rotterdam, at the north side of the city , in an old building from 1930.  We have moved here 5 years ago. Our apartment is on the ground floor and it used to be a local store with a garage for bicycles at the back. Now we have our garden there! I didn’t know I had ‘green hands’ or that I will be gardening in the middle of the city. The garden is wild, with a lot of bamboo, grasses and plants, which don’t need a lot of care. (that was my plan) Our apartment is more clean and organise  with a monochrome colour palet and here and there some splash of little colour accent.  It’s not a big space, but has a high ceilings, which make the space full of light…You can see on the pictures our little kitchen, dining room, library and a bit of working space. It’s one open space with no doors or walls…and that’s what I like so much about this house….

children room's with plants

swing in a child's room

I went into my children’s rooms moodboard on Pinterest in search of inspiration for putting plants into kids’ space. There was not even one room I could find with plants! I start wondering, how is that possible?  It’s such a great, living element we could not only watch and decorate with, but we can also learn kids to take care of.  Why they are hardly ever on the pictures ? Do you put plants into kids’ rooms ?

We had such a sunny last weekend in Rotterdam. Inspired by beautiful nature which is just about to wake up, I decided to start a little plant collection with my boys at home. I think it’s a great activity for kids, to observe plants grown. I absolutely love the idea of putting bulbs into transparent container with stones and watching the changes that take place over the time. I will show you more soon!

party hats from Engelpunt

party hats from Engel

Engel punt is one of my favourite Dutch brands if you will ask me about the perfect accessories for a party decoration. I think you probably already know their so popular Honeycomb and Pom Poms. Their slingers are also very nicely made and packed. I just discovered, that they came up with a new, simple product - colourful party hats! They are packed in a small envelope, so you can sent it or just use it for all your guests coming over to a party! The patterns and colours are cheerful - exactly what you might need.
  Happy Friday!

favourite stylist /part 4 Jessica Hanson

Jessica Hanson stylist working for an Australian InsideOut magazine

It’s finally March! I have already spotted first flowers getting out of the ground, so I can officially say, the Spring is on it’s way! I’m definitely more into colours and a fresh bright start…and to be outside, not in front of my monitor. Maybe that’s why I wasn’t here a lot last days.

Jessica Hanson is a stylist working for an Australian InsideOut magazine. I follow her on Instagram, and it’s always so nice to see the sneak picks from every issue of the mag. My favorite are her styling made for kids’ products. I find them very fresh and modern. She always plays with graphic patterns and I really like this part of her style.
