Do you like paper lamps?
White simple balls, big and small put together always remind me of Chinese paper lanterns.
This beautiful lamps in different shapes are coming from Parisaumoisdaout and are designed by Pascale Daniel. The lamps are not made out of paper but soft cotton sails, hand made in Bangladesh. The cotton is printed in manual screen printing or pad printing (print block) and then embroided with traditional techniques. This gives them a good quality and authentic touch.

what white children's room need

white paint

off-white paint colour
happy lights and a teen bed from Rafa-kids
white girl room with a splash of delicate colours
Australian store shelter 7- kids part

On Mondays I want to inspire you with some ideas to decorate children’s rooms.
We had a blue Monday 2 weeks  ago :  blue-in-childrens-room
and today I have for you a nice splash of colour in white children's rooms.

White base in kids’ deco is in my option a good start if you are not ready to make decision to paint entire room or just a wall in colour. Such a white space, is clean, fresh and ready to play with.  Like you can see on the first 2 pictures, the walls and floors are preserved white, also the furniture. What makes the rooms personal ? Big, colourful lamps and decorative blanket on the bed, which are the eye catchers of the space. On the 3rd photo we have colourful wall hangers and bedding with a lot of patterns, also the little side tables are grouped together  for a playful effect.

The children’s rooms I’m showing you bellow are also with white walls, but they have mostly wooden floors. What are the simple accessories to play and use in white rooms ? Wall stickers (easy to remove when you get tired of it) personal postcards put into the wall with washi tape, little garland and of course different colours of pillows.  A colourful lamp or a chair will do the job too. I really like the last picture with blue bed. I wouldn’t dare to put yellow sheets under the grey bedding, but this looks so much fun! Wall art collection, made out of different shape frames gives this room such a sophisticated look.

This nice Keyholder design by Anne Stensgaard for Bolia really  “ CatchMe ”

- funny enough this is a name of this beautiful product. I have a weakness for well made little design pieces with a bit of twist and funny look.  Anne had design for Bolia many more interesting products, which are for example this wall hangers. Bolia opened their first show room in 2000 and  it’s international furnishing company with humble Danish beginnings. If the name doesn’t ring any bell to you, just have a look at their website here : Bolia. I’m Danish design fan, so I just have to show it to you!
Have a wanderfull weekend!

Going to Paris is always a good idea to me….
January is even more special ( maybe not the best time of the year for the cold rainy weather) but if you are in furniture / interior design sector or children's fashion industry, you can catch with two important shows :  M&O and Playtimeparis.

At Merci store, till 7th of February there is a “TAK, a day in Copenhagen exhibition” …and you have to believe me, how much I regret I didn’t plan such a trip this year! well…we still can see some pictures, right? What is the exhibition about ? “ Furniture and objects of today rooted in a democratic culture of beauty and good desing.”
A selection of 100% Denmark: coffee, beer, biscuits, flour and juice of all kinds come together on the shelves of the Merci store. Not forgetting of course the must Danish...DESIGN. I really like the part of the exhibition with the black desks in a modern school set up. Could you imagine such a class room ?

tide away small things

Inga Sempe for the Danish brand Hay - « Pinorama »

Silence on the blog means most of the time that I’m very busy, here behind the screen. I wish to post regally, 3 times a week, but it’s still very spontaneous process for me. One week I have plenty of ideas to talk and to show you, the other I need to keep working with no energy to write…today I would like to show you, very interesting modular pin board design by Inga Sempe for the Danish brand Hay.

It is called « Pinorama » and it’s board for all the little things you want to keep handy or aren’t sure where to put. The perforated metal in an oblong brick pattern has a cork back that lets you pin up papers, pictures and other bits and pieces. The system also features a range of accessories in the form of shelves, cylinders or mirrors that can be attached to the metal grid. I really like the transparent look of « Pinorama » and I can easy see it in a child room or in the entrance hall.  Functional and charming storage solution.

storage for kids from ikea - stuva

IKEA storage system in children room

Is the STUVA storage system for kids the most popular solution in children rooms?
I see it so often, that I started to wonder why would it be so popular, putting the low price aside.

Storage that sees eye to eye with kids”  says IKEA on their website. Telling us that the secret of STUVA storage is that it’s at the right height for kids. They find it easier to get dressed and take their toys. The system gives also a lot of options to play with and make an individual combinations. You can choose between open or closed storage, to hide or display your things, and also interior fittings, like shelves or clothes rails you want. I selected only the white examples, since I like them the most. It’s simple and kind of neutral looking storage system which gives a good basic in children’s room.
Is this what we expect from storage for our kids?
What is your favourite storage system for your children ? I would be glad to know.
