Poor Toys & Happy Toys

wooden toy from poorex
wooden toy poorex

Two brands: one from Poland and other from The Netherlands.
One called they toys " Poor " the other " Happy" .
Do you know which toy belong to which name? I'm not going to tell you.

What is so interesting for me, is the fact that they both used simple materials. Dutch brand Usuals has crafted a set of handmade wooden toys out of branches from a hazel tree that grows on the family farm of one of the designers. The brand was formed by design duo Van Eijk and Van der Lubbe. The other toys are coming from Poorex and they combine simplified wooden vehicles with household items such as a brush, a plug and a clothes peg.
Do you like them ?

Brio Toys

We are loving and collecting Brio Toys for a long time.
They are not only playful and beautiful, it is pleasure to look at them, when they stay in your living room for  a while ;-) My boys have a big collection of railway trains and we will put them into a big box for our grandchildren (if we will have ones ;-) but definitely this is a toy which you are happy to invest money in. These photos are made by J. Ingerstedt at home of stylist Emma Persson Lagerberg. I really like the scandinavian feel of it, and the bold colors of toys.

let's SWING with Rafa-kids

Rafa-kids at Inside design amsterdam

Do you remember Rafa-kids at Inside Design Amsterdam last year ?
We made for this event a swing based on our R toddler bed wheel.
So many parents and kids have fun and keep asking us  :
when we can buy it ? It took us some time , but today he is :

We have chosen the rope in yellow and black.
Attach it to a tree, attic beam or ceiling and try to get your kids off it! ;-)

ADO speelgoed & Ko Verzuu

my busy boys….

For a long time I haven't seen such a magnificent exhibition!
The wooden toys are wonderful, the space welcome so well children, they can do toys by themselves and can play with them too. The ADO speelgood ( toys) first catalog is from 1932 ! Can you imagine ? They are so modern! All ADO toys were made in Tuberculosis Sanatorium, in Berg en Bosch, close by Apeldoorn. The patients, instead of going on walks, spend four hours per day working - if possible at they own job. Ko Verzuu, was appointed head of men's work therapy. Father of 11 children! Like you can imagine, they tested and played with all prototypes. Ko Verzuu brought to a Dutch market something very unique. ADO original toys are not in production any more and become collectors items ….4 of us like them so much!

You can see the exibision here : Tentoonstellingen - Coda Museum - AdoSpeelgoed
I highly recommend it ;-)
