Out and About

Weekend! Last week we decided that our Friday’s are going to be “ Out and About ” . Each Friday we will go and discover some new places and recharge our  batteries and get inspired. Do you like the idea ?  Today I would like to show you our first outing.  We went to The Hague, since there is a 3 day event called “ Festival Design Kwartier” 27-29 May. Tomorrow you still have chance to see it if you are around. Open doors to designer’s studios, houses , galleries and shops all filled with design. 

On our ‘must see’ list was Tas-ka store. Unique design concept store hosting also products for MINI - people. 

Tas-ka is run by Jantien Baas and Hester Worst.  In the store you will find, their own design prints all over the place. From designed and manufactured in The Netherlands textiles, their bedding, bags, cushions, tea towers. Their print comes on lamps and plenty of beautiful paper goods too. Jantien and Hester also carry a well curated collection of goods from other brands. Exclusively for “ Festival Design Kwartier” we could see this cute mustard yellow exposition wall with accessories for little ones. There is also a bookstore !  As you could see the store has a minimal look with a graphic touch. Atmosphere is built with care for every little element and product. Well done, Tas-ka!

toys with a soul - Fanny&Alexander

I tell my boys that I remember the time when there was no mobile phones or iPads, that their grandparents didn’t even have a tv. They really have problem to believe me…and always ask me, what did you play with ? World without all the electronics for the little people, do you still remember it ?  Would you be happy to get back to it ? 

I’m glad to see such brands like Fanny&Alexander from Argentine, encouraging fantasy and imagination of children. Founder Delfina Aguilar dream was to create old fashioned, handcrafted toys and then create a world around them.

Les Enfants du Design - special Noël

It’s only one month left for the special Christmas time. 

Are you feeling exited ? I’m totally not in the spirit yet, but I notice the online children’s stores are in the mood already to help us to find the perfect gifts for our loved ones. One of my favourite stores: Les Enfants du Design,  just lunched their Christmas guide with stylish and beautiful products. Well curated and inspiring children toys and accessories for our home deco. The catalogue adds a bit of glitter and some french chic into our world…do you mind?

LEGO brick storage box

My husband brought a bunch of a new storage boxes for our LEGO lovers boys. Yes, a LEGO storage Bricks ! and you have to believe me, I haven’t seen any so stylish and well made boxes for a long time! I think they will survive a life time. My toddler is over the moon and play with them all the time.  We have selected basic colours : grey, white, black and two tones of blue. They occupy our living room since few days and I really do not mind. I hope that during this weekend my 3 boys, are going to sort out all the lego collection, and put them into this great storage boxes. Pictures are coming!

I’m not sure if I like more the new pillows or this great sofa from a new photo session of Luckyboysunday. 

Can I get both of them ? The new collection is called Blue Sunday and we can welcome some new friends in the luckyboysunday family. I really like this Danish brand designing very special cuddly, pillows, blankets, but unfortunately my boys do not share my enthusiasm, and ask me always why they have such sad faces…

new for kids from ferm living A/W 2014

Be prepared for indians, arrows, wigwams, mountains and feathers in kids’ rooms. 

This theme in kids’ deco is already present, but the new collection of Ferm Living A/W 2014 doesn’t leave us with doubts that’s this trend is going to stay with us for longer. 

The Ferm Living collection is growing each season, and never disappoints me. The new online catalogue is just so good ! Have a look here. What’s new in kids department? Round carpets - dots, sticks and triangles. Simple and fresh looking and not so expensive. A lot of black-and white products : native and mountain new patterns on wallpaper and textile.  Wall flags with a Billy Bear, Hurray and arrows pattern. New Bear Pillows and we can’t forget Inka snake in Gray. What I always like so much about Ferm Living’s design for kids is that they are elegant, modern and not childish, it’s a pleasure to look an touch it. The photos are warm, playful and even though I’m not a pastel colours person, they just grab me, with their beautiful products. Well done!

Kids' Design book from BRAUN

We are very proud that Rafa-kids' beds are featured in KIDS' DESIGN 

book by Michelle Galindo released by Swiss publisher Braun. 

The volume: 

" ... presents a selection of the most innovative designs for children, 

from novelties to established classics. It is for all parents who value great design and want to pass it on to their children."

We find it amazing that being only 1,5 years on the market we are standing between such a good companies as Oeuf or Kalon Studios.

There is plenty of other great products for kids in this book but I cannot take pictures of it all :)
