Creative children’s spaces

Personal bedroom with handmade elements from book Creative children’s spaces

Few days ago I was so lucky to find in my post box this wonderful book ‘ Creative Children’s Spaces’ by Ashlyn Gibson. As you can imagine going through all the pages made me very exited!

Most of the houses the stylist and author of the book Ashlyn Gibson selected and visited with photographer Ben Robertson are not know in the online word.  This makes the content of this book very fresh and unique.  You can also be sure, that the houses are not changed by the stylist, who is trying to show us specific image or product. They take us like a little spy, to watch the real homes and their families.  Dynamic, personal and creative environments which are beautifully captured by photographer Ben Robertson . I had hard time to select pictures to show you.

Each page is just full of ideas and little details, which you would like to watch, and watch again.  The author Ashlyn discusses the key elements of successful and inspiring children’s spaces: colour, wall décor, storage, display, dens and hideaways, creative spaces plus homework zones, and cozy bedrooms. We are very touched to also see our Rafa-kids R toddler bed in one of the houses!

An interior design store which was started several years ago in a back lane of High St, Armadale’s shopping precinct. The owners Hans and Ursula van Schoonhoven , had a goal to bring all the best qualities of Dutch design into Australia :
“ ... the edginess, the natural mixing of old and new, and good form and function . “

Let’s invite kids to play  ‘Pirates’ in this room created in Rafa-kids’ studio few days ago.

This traditional pattern often used in children’s deco got a modern twist in styling and photography of Paulina Arcklin.  The kids’ bedding is coming from a new Spanish brand Moshi Moshi Kids
The rich textures of natural materials: like old wood ( chair, table)  rope ( swing ) and old metal trunk, give this room a fresh touch which I really like. Mix some children stuff with more adult elements and you will have a room which you can enjoy for much longer. Rafa-kids’ dark chocolate bed is coming into life with colourful elements and a splash of orange.
Who has a courage to play with us ?

How many children’s stores you know which make each season their own e-magazine?
Well, not that many in my option. Cécile Roederer, owner of the Smallable says “ The magazine is precisely their DNA, the essence of their universe. “ I think it’s the most interesting way to show the style of the store and to inspire your customers.   “I love the idea of a concept store.  When you say concept store, you are saying not just a shop but the discovery and creation of an entire lifestyle” .

Smallable, is an online kids’ department store for 0-16 years old, and offers very well selected kids’ designer clothes, and also kids’ furniture and interior design accessories for bedrooms, nurseries and teenagers! This inspiring pictures are made by Pierre Rochand and styling is made by Léonie Escolivet for the new summer season magazine.

you are my sunshine

I’m back!
It was a long break, wan’t it?  Did you miss my posts a bit?
Well I’m ready to get back to you with new inspirations, ideas and interesting content.

Let’s start our new week with a splash of joy, happiness and energy of yellow colour.
It’s not a big secret that Rafa-kids likes yellow a lot and tries to add it to a children’s rooms here and there. A bit of yellow will brighten your child’s room very quick. What about a little yellow pillow, bedding set or this wonderful “you are my sunshine” text on the wall ?  The days are longer and warmer now, and I  always feel like changing things around me and add a bit of colour into our monochromatic house. Would you dare to?
I wish you a wonderful new week ahead!

Great tips how to decorate with black&yellow , please have a look here.

favourite stylist /part 4 Jessica Hanson

Jessica Hanson stylist working for an Australian InsideOut magazine

It’s finally March! I have already spotted first flowers getting out of the ground, so I can officially say, the Spring is on it’s way! I’m definitely more into colours and a fresh bright start…and to be outside, not in front of my monitor. Maybe that’s why I wasn’t here a lot last days.

Jessica Hanson is a stylist working for an Australian InsideOut magazine. I follow her on Instagram, and it’s always so nice to see the sneak picks from every issue of the mag. My favorite are her styling made for kids’ products. I find them very fresh and modern. She always plays with graphic patterns and I really like this part of her style.

teenager room with Rafa-kids' furniture

teener room with Rafa-kids furniture

I find it very rare to find a furniture that can be used in many different types of space, and appeal to many different aesthetics. Traditional or modern, bohemian or minimalist. Not to mention furniture for children, which we can buy when they are around 7-8 years old and still use it when they are 18….That what I would like to show you today. Rafa-kids strive to create quality design which can be used for years and grow with the child. I think we can achieve it by getting our kids’ furniture with clean lines, stylish, and timeless. I don’t have a teenager at home yet…

My older son (8 ), loves soft and delicate fabrics ( yes! ) this is always our priority when we buy new clothes for him. I hope softness, beautiful lightweight texture and comfort  of linnen from Rafa-kids’ collection will be his first choice in the future. Together with sophisticated design of furniture and plenty of personal accessories around it…
