Note Design Studio detail furniture

I don't know about you, but when I look at some products of  Note Design Studio - I think they are so playful and childish. Colors, shapes, materials and expressions, just perfect for kids to play. I don't think this is what the designers think off ;) but at least I can easy imagine this furniture in children's room. My personal favorite is the red open wardrobe, made out of metal, with the crossing legs . Note Design Studio says that for this collection they were inspired by camping and field trip and storage boxes and shelves based on cages for trapping specimines.

They are stockholm-based design studio founded in 2008. They work within the fields of architecture, interiors, products, graphic design and design strategy, look for more : notedesignstudio

Rafa-kids Year 2013 - Thank you!

Rafa-kids studio pictures © Paulina Arcklin

The year 2013 is going to end soon.
Do you want to look back with us and see how busy Rafa-kids was?

In January 2013 we got keys to our Rafa-kids studio. We did not even dream to open own studio/showroom being just a starting company not even a year on the market! We took the challenge though and fell in love with the space from the beginning. It needed some work and took 3 winter months to just make it clean and simple...

In March we launched our third product - A teen bed which is a perfect combination for the F bunk bed. Since then we have a new set F&A for two older kids.  We also extended our Rafa-kids collection with 2 new colors - white wash and dark chocolate and add mattresses to all our beds. Many parents asked us for it and we decided we would like to make life easer for them.

Spring came with all new beds and colors delivered to our studio.
Maybe you remember my blog post from March ? Picture-this-concept-by-Paulina-Arcklin
In May we had our fist photo session with this great lady.

Sunny Spring days met us working hard in the studio on new pictures of the white wash collection.

Facebook fans reached 1000 and we introduces quirky little S swing and XO game.

The studio became a great place to work from ...and we also ship our products around the World.
In September faced with still growing demand for our beds we doubled the production.

After a great Summer break, with new energy, we photographed ourselves the dark chocolate beds.
It is such a fun to prepare the styling, ideas and shoot it all in our own studio.

storage for kids by restorationhardware

 restorationhardware storage for kids

It's not new that I'm a big fun of restorationhardware collection for kids
A bit strange you will say, since I like modern simplicity and scandinavian furniture the most. I have a weakness for industrial furniture too, so it's all a bit of mix, anyway.
This simple ideas for storage, are worth showing, I think.
Restorationhardware is a company based in US , so we can just look at their good work, and get inspired. Rafa-kids is also working on new collection and storage is actually an issue we deal with at the moment too. Wait till Spring for more!

Clothes racks are coming to our interiors from shops and industrial world. I noticed that wardrobe is getting out of the cupboard ... I like this simple clothes rack designed by Simon Legals for norman copenhagen. It has an industrial look and simple construction, provides space for clothes, shoes and bags.

Instead of free standing clothes rack we can also have one fixed to the wall or selling + some nice bench underneath. Beautiful solution for a big hallway. The one on the picture is coming from Denmark, designed by Christina Liljenberg Halstrøm for Georg Collection for Danish design company Trip Trap
Minimal, elegant and clean design. First I need a big house and then I can put it all in!

spross toddler bed & moormann style

Spross toddler bed by Christoffer Martens

was one of the first toddler beds I discovered a long time ago and I really liked it.  It is coming from Christoffer Martens , designed in 2008. It's a bed which you put together with no screws - which is one of the characteristics of the " Moormann Style " . So simple but at the same time has this asymmetric twist in design and playful look. ( available also in white and black)
Nils Holger Moormann , has been one of the protagonist of the  " New German Design" school producing and selling products from young , unknown designers. The main principles are simplicity, intelligence and innovation. I selected only  few my favorite furniture from they big collection. I'm attached to they esthetic and concept a lot. Don't miss they great catalogs!

berge guesthouse in Aschau

"Be happy! There is no television, no internet access,
no telephone and no good mobile phone reception in Berge!"
I think this could have been a perfect place to spend the Holiday time for me ;-) with a big plus of discovering a great design all around! I came across this place studying the Moormann Style a bit. Furniture producer Nils Holger Moormann bought a plot of land near his headquarters to build a new warehouse…it finished totally different than it was planed! It is a guest house with 16 completely different apartments. They are all made in Moormann custom-made pieces of furniture and mix with design classics. I think the effect is fabulous. The simplicity of furniture, all kept in wood and black colors, give this space such a quiet and calm look. I'm putting this place on my " wish to see" lists.
