Dream Big - modern nursery

It’s not often, if ever, that I show you a nursery room on the blog.
This one however I found so special that I just needed to present it to you.

Little boy Marin is a 3rd child of talented illustrator and stylist Faustiane. Her blog Jesus-sauvage is filled with plenty of inspiration for your home not to mention, she has a fabulous house herself, which you can spot sometimes on her very popular Instagram account. Well, that’s a little introduction if you don’t know her already. No surprice, that this mom with a good sense of style has created this modern nursery for her little boy.

The room was created as a part of a larger room of parents. I really like this way of dividing a room. Glass panes visually connect the space and keep a lot of light. The base of the room is kept in white, together with basic furniture in the same finish. I absolutely adore the way the String shelve system was used in this room.  Remember my post about String here ? I haven’t seen it before in a room for a little baby. Everything is so well arranged and organised. The little hang wardrobe is just adorable! When Marin will grow up, he can easily use the shelves for other purposes in his toddler or teenager room. The colour shame is also so nice. The blue with mustard and stylish accessories.
What do you like the most about the room ?

NEW B bench by Rafa-kids

NEW B bench by Rafa-kids
NEW B bench by Rafa-kids

Please welcome our new Rafa-kids members :
B bench and BB bench. We couldn't wait any longer to show it to you!

We wanted to create new furniture which would be good to use under our F bunk bed. Fitting exactly between the ladder legs it is creating a new siting/reading possibility for your child. That’s not all of course! Free standing bench can be used by our toddlers in many different ways. Racing, building, lying or rolling…kids love to play on the floor, don't they?

Imagine it as a table in the middle of a room. Your child can draw on it or use it for other favourite activities. Under the bench there is space to put baskets, boxes or little suitcase.  It is of course easy to sit, and try to put your little shoes on. Or climb it to grab something from above. The bench can be used by older kids too. We see it as a side table next to A90 or A120 teen beds, just perfect to put magazines, books or clothes.

We have two models : with or without the backrest and two lengths of 90cm or 120cm
and it is possible to use the benches with all of our furniture.

Simple design of this bench, makes this furniture perfect to use from early years into adultness.
We are in the production phase, so the new benches are going to be available in September

Blogging can open the doors for possibilities that you never expect. You can even find a dream job of decorating 7 room house in South Arabia…well, this is really happening to Linda right now from The Live Loud Girl blog , who I’m presenting to you today.

Difficult to imagine that she started blogging only in 2014. This Dutch mom living in exotic Dubai with her family including 2 cute boys is one to follow! She started her blog because she wanted to share her inspiration of home deco, sharing pictures from her own, very bright and open house and this led her to her first interior project…. Well done, don’t you think ? Before I will tell you what I like about her style, let’s give her a voice:
“ The Live Loud Girl signature look is based on mixing it up. Scandinavia meets Manhattan with a touch of my Dutch roots you could call it. Combining old with new, vintage with IKEA making interior styling accessible and affordable, creating an atmosphere with attitude… “
Well , I can only say, I really like the spacious and full of light atmosphere she creates. Also her choices for furniture, light and accessories are unique and often not products you would directly relate with kids, which I always like to see. A fresh air in the kids world.

Sweet dreams with Rafa-kids

Sweet dreams - toddler room created by Rafa-kids

I always wanted to create a magic room which would be all about children’s dreams and sleeping time. Unique space filled with dreamy soft colours and textures….
and here we are : new room created by Rafa-kids - we called it Sweet dreams.

I’m not afraid of dark colours for children’s rooms. I think they give a feeling of cosiness to a room. I decided to create a space, with different dark elements : curtains, wall paint and dark furniture - in this case R toddler bed in dark chocolate. The base of the room was then kept in one atmosphere and calm.  All the accessories, which gave this room a personal character where selected with more present colours in mind: pink, orange and yellow. I wanted to give the room more details and soft girly character.

For example, dark knitted lamps were personalised by adding little pink metal butterflies. New bedding in Rafa-kids collection ‘Ashes of roses’ was just such a perfect choice for this room. Reach texture of stonewashed linen and the deep and elegant colour of it. Together with grey and pink lavender pillows make all this look so perfect.

Do you remember animal drawings from our Rafa-kids lookbook? They were designed for us by Asia Gwis / Kavka design. Well, we brought them into real life with us and made wall stickers to decorate. Do you like it?  We think they should be part of Rafa-kids collection very soon.
What do you think about the wardrobe / storage wall to expose the garments, shoes and toys?  The grey colour is such a good base for these kind of projects….and if you will look very carefully you might discover a new Rafa-kids design already……

world under the bunk bed for a smaller child

I’m always so exited to see our Rafa-kids furniture in ‘real’ children’s rooms. This time it is even more special, since we can see how our furniture is growing with them when time passes. Two years ago I showed you this playful toddler room in Sweden: Antoines-Leonors-Room.  Peggy, mom of 4, created this room for her little boy Antoine and his little sister Leonor. Rafa-kids bed become part of this creative playground for children. Now, the little boy is not so small anymore. He is 6 and shares a new room with his sister Leonors who is 3 1/2 now.

As their mom explained, she tried to put first a bigger bed next to the toddler bed, but the arrangement didn’t really work well.  We could not imagine a better option, than adding the F bunk bed above the toddler bed!  What I like the most about this set of beds, is the chance to create a little world under the bunk bed  for a younger sibling. Peggy did it so well.  Leonors sleeping area is looking so cosy and inviting. I’m sure it is for her a safe territory where she feels good and hopefully sleeps well!
You can read personal story of Peggy and how she created this room here:

Cosy corner for siblings

Rafa-kids M shelf in the girls room
Sharing a room - Rafa-kids F&A bed set

Today we are crawling under Rafa-kids bunk bed ….
it’s a cosy and comfortable little corner for a little girl or two girls sharing a room …
or friends coming over to play and sleep….try to imagine all the possibilities!

If children share a single room, putting two - one persons’ beds in it, can be not an easy task if we do not have a lot of space. Rafa-kids thought about it.  That’s why we’ve created F & A beds. Each bed can be set apart in the room or put in different positions together. We have so much fun imagining this little corner with F&A beds in white, to show you how beautiful the sleeping - playing corner for children can be.

Under the F bunk bed there is enough space to put a night shelf, or table, a few suitcases for personal belongings and little boxes for all the treasuries. We need them all, right?  Rafa-kids M shelf fits also perfectly next to the A teen bed. This will give an extra possibility to hang favourite jewellery, bag or softies, which your child would like to have around his/hers bed.

Rafa-kids is known for a little yellow obsession, so that’s why you see
it back in this cheerful and positive room.  We hope you like it as much as we do!

Child’s room metamorphose

Children room metamorphose

It doesn’t happened often that two well know Sweden’s stylists take a challenge to redesign a child’s room. Don’t you think ? Pella Hedeby interior stylist and blogger at Stilinspiration and Frida Ramstedt who runs the most read interior design blog in the country - Trendenser, took the task. You can even see movie from the metamorphose here.

I really like the moodbord Pella Hedeby created for this room. She choose white base and then played with some contrasting elements without loosing the texture and playful accents. Before the metamorphose the room was having very dominant stripe wallpaper on entire wall and one open space in the middle to play.

Pella and Frida created three areas in the room :  sleeping area with the freshly painted grey bed, table with chairs and then teepee corner with toys to play and hide. The striped wallpaper was taken off  and all the important elements were putted lower and grouped together in one place. We forget sometimes that children’s hight is different than adults and they experience the room from a bit different perspective. One long shelf is created to put pictures, toys and favourite belongings. The colour palette is calm and cosy.
I wish to see much more of such a nice room makeovers from stylists who normally do not work with kids deco.
